Consultation on MJ concerns
As part of the efforts to end the long-standing issue of marijuana cultivation and transportation in Tinglayan, the Police Regional Office Cordillera represented by PROCOR Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PCOL RONALD V GAYO, joined the consultation meeting and dialogue with LGU and the Elders of Tinglayan held at the Open Gym, Tinglayan, Kalinga on October 20, 2022.
The PROCOR team together with the Kalinga Local Government Unit (LGU), heads of line agencies, and the elders of Tinglayan attended the consultation.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed several comprehensive plans to address the issues concerning marijuana cultivation and transportation happening in the municipality.
In his message, PCOL GAYO asked for the full support and commitment of the community and other line agencies to form a lasting solution that could put an end to the problems caused by marijuana cultivation.
“Adatuy kami, ipakpakita mi nga seryoso kami maipanggep daytoy war on drugs. Dawdawatek ti suporta ti bawat maysa, lalo na ang mga barangay officials, katuwang ang PNP at mga National Line Agencies.. sikayo ti pag-asa mi (Nandito kami para ipakita namin sainyo na seryoso kami patungkol sa war on drugs. Humihingi ako ng suporta ng bawat isa, lalo na ang mga barangay officials, katuwang ang PNP at mga national line agencies…kayo ang pag-asa namin)” PCOL GAYO said.
According to the records of the Regional Operations Division, from 2016 to the present, more than 8 billion pesos worth of marijuana plants and products were already destroyed through the 240 marijuana eradication operations conducted by PROCOR in Tinglayan alone.
3 drug personalities arrested in Benguet
As a result of the intensified anti-illegal drug operations being conducted by Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR), another three (3) drug personalities were arrested in a separate operation conducted in Benguet on October 21, 2022.
Based on the reports submitted to the PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the arrested suspects were identified as Cliford Sayowet Subang “a.k.a Tindeng”, 35; George Molintas Alhado, 36; and John Siaco Daguines, 44.
In Brgy. Loo, Buguias, Benguet suspect Subang was arrested by joint operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Benguet after he sold a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected “shabu” weighing more or less 0.14 grams and a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 952.00 to an operative who acted as poseur-buyer.
In a separate operation conducted in La Trinidad, Benguet, a concerned citizen called and reported to the operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) that a drug session was in progress in Brgy. Puguis.
In response, the operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) together with the Regional Intelligence Division (RID)-PROCOR, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 14, and La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) proceeded to the area to verify the veracity of the information that resulted in the arrest of suspects Alhado & Daguines and confiscation of five (5) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing more or less 1.51 grams with an SDP of Php10,268.00.
Marking and inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered were done on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by representatives of the Department of Justice (DOJ), elected barangay officials, and media representatives.
The suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of their respective operating units for documentation and proper disposition while charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
