Arrested
Police recently identified two new criminal groups involved in land grabbing and “gun running” activities operating in the municipality of Quezon, Isabela and some of their members were arrested on October 12, 2018 for Violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as “the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition” by the joint Intelligence personnel of PROCOR, CIDG RFU2 – Isabela PFU, Isabela PPO, and RIU-14 PNP IG.
The leader of the Abenoja group identified as Joel Ganado Abenoja @ “Boy”, 40, farmer, landed in jail after he was nabbed in his residence in Brgy. Callangigan, Quezon, Isabela. Confiscated from him is one fragmentation hand grenade.
Members of the Seguncia group identified as Bacuyag Cawas, 52, and Arsenio Candelario Antonio, 66, both farmers and residents of Pinagan, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga, were arrested in Brgy. Estrada, Quezon, Isabela, morning of the same date.
Confiscated from them were one (1) M16 Colt AR 15 Rifle, one (1) M14 US Springfield Rifle, 312 pieces of live ammunition for M16, M14 rifle, and shotgun; 16 magazines for M16 and M14 rifle, two (2) improvized shotgun, two (2) black bonnet, one (1) upper garment camouflage army uniform and one (1) pair tactical pants.
Both criminal groups operate in the municipality of Quezon, Isabela, and other adjacent municipalities of the provinces of Kalinga and Isabela.
And in the simultaneous implementation of search warrants against loose firearms, four gun holders were separately nabbed in the provinces of Mtn. Province and Abra. In this connection, arrested individuals were identified as Gabriel Wansi Edduba, Edward Tabbagon Ganggangan, and Walter Tabbagon Ganggangan, by joint personnel of Paracelis Municipal Police Station, Intelligence personnel Mtn, Province PPO, RIU14 and CIDG, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) in the afternoon of October 14, 2018 in their respective residences in Sitio Addang, Bunot, Paracelis, Mtn. Province.
Confiscated items were one (1) shotgun, one (1) carbine (M2), one 12 gauge shotgun, one caliber .22 riffle, one improvized shotgun, all with no serial numbers; and one caliber .22 rifle, 222 assorted live ammunition, and five (5) magazines for cal. 30 and M16 rifle.
During the operation, 118 assorted live ammunition, 19 assorted magazines for M16 and M14 and two (2) chainsaws were seized in the residences of four individuals who were not around during the search.
Another suspect identified as Jodel Batalon Bajo, 21, construction worker was arrested at Brgy. Calot, Bangued, Abra by the joint personnel of CIDG-Abra, PNP-SAF, and Bangued MPS in the morning of October 12, 2018. Seized were one GA12 shotgun without serial number, one magazine clip for GA12 shotgun and three (3) live ammunition for GA12 shotgun.
Rape and acts of lasciviousness
On October 15, 2018 at about 11:45 AM, Cesaria Ranjo Bartolome, 63 and Charity Daligdalig Mangwag, 50, both farmers, came to this station together with the victim, Maria de Jesus (not her real name), 11, all residents of Barangay Katabbogan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga to complain against Jerry Datul Andres, 52, laborer and a resident of same place.
Investigation disclosed that on or about 8:00 PM of October 14, 2018 the victim was on her way to the house of her sister Sheryl Ann Mangwag but when she was passing by the house of the suspect, the suspect suddenly grabbed her hand, hugged her and tried to force her to enter his house. However, she managed to resist and escape then went to the house of her sister. On the other hand, Mrs Charity Mangwag told this office that in the morning of October 14, 2018, victim revealed to her that she was forced by the suspect to have sexual intercourse several times since she was nine (9) years old and the latest incident was on October 6, 2018. Personnel of Pinukpuk MPS immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect who was brought to Pinukpuk MPS for documentation and inquest proceedings.
Shooting incident resulting in physical injuries
A shooting incident at NFA Staff House, Loakan Proper, Baguio City on October 16, 2018 at about 11:35 PM as complained by Christopher Benito Tejada, 47, security guard by occupation, and a resident of #246-C Maridith, Loakan Proper, Baguio City against Jose Cruz Leones, 55, security guard by occupation, and a resident of Kadaclan Village, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that the suspect fired his issued firearm described as 9mm armscor with SN 1593573 at the complainant several times which resulted in slight physical injuries on his upper left thigh. The incident ensued from a misunderstanding between them. The suspect was arrested and recovered from him was a cal. 9mm pistol, Armscor make, and one magazine with 5 ammunition. Also recovered from the scene are 2 fired 9mm cartridges.
