6 former rebels in MP get livelihood aid
Six (6) former rebels officially received their livelihood assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government during the Provincial Task Force program on Empowering Local Communities to Accelerate Change (PTF-ELCAC) n Kin-iway, Besao, Mountain Province on October 22, 2021.
They received financial assistance worth Php 20,000.00 each as capital for their proposed livelihood project to uplift their socio-economic conditions.
The program was attended by PCOL JOHN CHUA, PROCOR Deputy Regional Director for Operations, together with PCOL RUBEN B ANDISO, Mountain Province PPO Provincial Director; COL VALDEZ, 69th IB Battalion Commander; Ms Jackielyn O Guitangan from SWAD; Ms Miguela Angwani from PSWDO; and Ms Nida Docallas from MSWDO.
In the message of PCOL CHUA, he commended the former rebels for surrendering and returning to mainstream society, and encouraged other rebels to return to the fold of the law so they could live normal lives with the help of government.
Deployment of narcotic detection dogs
The PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit (DEG SOU)–CAR joined the deployment of narcotic detection dogs in public bus terminals in Baguio City. October 22, 2021.
The program, held virtually via Zoom platform, was graced by PMGEN RHODEL O SERMONIA, the Director for Operations, as the guest of honor and speaker.
In his message, he emphasized the crucial role of narcotic detection dogs in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs. Also, he stated that this is not only in connection with illegal drugs but also to prevent criminality in seaports and public bus terminals.
Also in attendance were personnel of the Regional EOD and Canine Unit–Cordillera (RECU-COR), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), and other invited guests.
As part of the program, narcotic detection dogs were deployed at the Old Victory Liner Bus Terminal, Genesis Bus Terminal, Joy Bus Terminal, and Partas Bus Terminal, all located in Governor Pack Road, Baguio City.
Earlier this year, PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, also ordered to maximize the deployment of canine units during checkpoint operations to further deter illegal drugs transportation in the region.
P2.34-M MJ intercepted in Benguet
Kibungan cops conducting routine police checkpoint intercepted marijuana plants worth of Php 2,340,000.00 being transported and arrested one (1) suspect in Brgy Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet on October 22, 2021. He was identified as Moses Bogatti Pad-ay, 36.
According to Kibungan MPS, they were conducting a regular police checkpoint operation when a red Tamaraw FX wagon approached the area. Upon arriving, the driver, identified as Dante Acdang, immediately disembarked from the vehicle and ran away leaving his lone passenger, Moses Bogatti Pad-ay, behind.
Members of the checkpoint team chased Acdang while the others proceeded to check the vehicle. Upon inspection, they noticed at the back portion of the vehicle a bulky cellophane partially wrapped with a yellow sack containing suspected marijuana stalks. Discovered also were three tubular packages of dried marijuana weighing more or less 3 kilograms with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php360,000.00, in addition to the the one sack weighing 16.5 kilograms with a SDP of Php 1,980,000.00.
Markings and inventory of the pieces of evidence seized were conducted on-site in the presence of the suspect and witnessed by Prosecutor Mark C Maranes, Barangay Kagawad Darwin Dagdag, and a PDEA-CAR representative.
