PROCOR top cop inspects COMELEC checkpoints
PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE, randomly inspected the established COMELEC checkpoints to ensure compliance with existing guidelines and policies.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 10741, checkpoints must have a properly labeled signage to notify the motorists of the checkpoint. It must bear the name of the chief of police in the area. This should be positioned in a well-lit location that will not hamper the smooth flow of traffic and regular activities. Police officers on duty must always wear the prescribed uniforms.
At 12:00 AM of January 9, 2022, the different units of Police Regional Office Cordillera simultaneously established COMELEC Checkpoints all throughout the region to signal the start of the 150-day election period for the May 2022 national and local elections.
To ensure icompliance with the said COMELEC resolution, PBGEN LEE together with Atty. Ederlino U Tabilas, the Regional Director of COMELEC-CAR and Baguio City Police Office Director, PCOL GLENN LONOGAN inspected the established COMELEC Checkpoint at Marcos Highway.
Afterwards, PBGEN LEE together with Benguet Provincial Director PCOL REYNALDO PASIWEN proceeded to Tuba and La Trinidad to do the same.
PBGEN LEE reminded the public that they are not compelled to go out of their vehicles for physical check up because the inspection is meant to proceed only through visual search.
According to the reports of the Regional Operations Management Division, there is a total of 110 PNP-COMELEC checkpoints established in the whole Cordillera manned by 1,080 PROCOR personnel.
Also, same report revealed that the conduct of the activity was generally peaceful and no untoward incident was recorded.
PROCOR taps religious sector
Taking cognizant of the important roles that the community plays in the promotion of peace and order in the region, the Police Regional Office Cordillera under the leadership of PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE has tapped the various community sectors for the delivery of police services in the region.
Dubbed as KASIMBAYANAN or Kapulisan, Simbahan at Sambayanan, the program aims to involve the religious sector and the community in various PNP programs and activities.
During the cascading of KASIMBAYANAN at PROCOR Multi-Purpose Hall in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on January 10, 2022, PMGEN RODOLFO S AZURIN JR., the PNP Director of Comptrollership, graced the program as the guest of honor and speaker while CAR religious leaders serving as life coaches for PNP personnel and the representatives of the different Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) were invited as the prime movers of the project.
Present also during the activity were the representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the different police offices of PROCOR.
During the program, PMGEN AZURIN emphasized the importance of the collaboration of the police, church, and the community towards a peaceful and progressive community.
