PNP in high gear for elections
With the nearing National and Local Elections, Police Regional Office Cordillera hosted the 3rd Regional Joint Security Control Center Command Conference and the 2nd Regional COMELEC Campaign Committee Meeting held at PROCOR Multi-Purpose Gym, La Trinidad, Benguet on March 24, 2022.
The conference was presided by Atty. Ederlino U. Tabilas, the Regional Election Director of COMELEC-CAR and physically attended by PROCOR’s Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE; BGEN KRISHNAMURTI MORTELA, the Brigade Commander of 702nd IB, PA; and COL. CHRISTOPHER SAB-IT, the Deputy Brigade Commander of 503rd IB, PA.
Also present during the conference were the PROCOR Command Group, Regional Staff of PROCOR, Directors of Police City/Provincial Offices, COMELEC-CAR, Chiefs of the Regional Support Unit, and other partner agencies.
As part of the program, PCOL SIBLY DAWIGUEY JR, PROCOR’s Chief of Regional Operations Division, COL. SAB-IT and BGEN MORTELA discussed the Peace and Order situation and security concerns of the region.
Also, updates on Deployment Plan in relation to the upcoming elections were presented by Mrs. Evelyn Vien Adriano, Regional Coordinator of the F2 Logistics.
The conference concluded with the demonstration of Vote Counting Machines (VCM) and an open forum in relation to the agenda discussed during the conference.
Meanwhile, PBGEN LEE ensured that the PNP will continue to be active in coordination with other government agencies to maintain a smooth preparation and flow of the electoral period in Cordillera.
Two busted for using illegal drugs
A wanted person for the crime of theft and his buddy are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were caught in the act of using illegal drugs in Tabuk City, Kalinga on March 22, 2022. They were identified as Giovanni Salang-oy Emperado, 34, and Carl Eivan Duclan Ngao-i, 21.
According to the reports to Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the suspects were arrested, after they were caught in the act of having a drug session when a warrant of arrest was served. It was issued by Judge Richardson Garcia Agbisit for the crime of theft against suspect Emperado.
Seized during the operation were one sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.3 grams with an SDP of Php 2,040.00 and drug paraphernalia used by the suspects.
The inventory of the pieces of evidence was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects duly witnessed by DOJ representative, Lailanie Balao-ing; a representative from the media, Leonora Lo-oy; and Brgy Captain Enrique Q Sagayo of Magsaysay, Tabuk City.
The suspects and confiscated items were brought to Tabuk CPS for proper disposition and documentation. **
