Guard posing as NPA arrested for robbery
A security guard who posed as member of New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested by operatives of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) after he was caught in the act of robbing a convenient store in Baguio City on June 27, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspect was identified as Micheal Angelo Morella, 23-year-old and a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet.
According to the investigation of BCPO Camdas Police Station (PS2), the victims revealed that suspect Morelle entered the convenience store then he handed over a piece of paper to the Store Manager with a note “Kami po ay mga NPA Huwag sisigaw o kikilos ng masama buhay o pera ang aming mililikom. Matagal ka namin pinagmamasdan”.
When the store manager did not pay attention, suspect Morella got irked and pointed his firearm at the store crew.
Also, suspect Morella detained the other store crew in the walk-in room and instructed the store manager to put all the money from the counter amounting to more or less Php 11,000.00 in his bag.
However, another customer noticed the incident inside the convenience store and reported the incident to BCPO.
Baguio City cops immediately responded resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of a Cal. 38 revolver with five (5) ammunition.
Suspect Morelle was brought into the custody of BCPO Camdas Police Station (PS2) for documentation and proper disposition.
The suspect will now be facing charges for violations of Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code or Robbery with intimidation and RA 10591 known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition and Regulation Act of 2013.
Msn and concubine nabbed for illegal drugs
A man and his alleged concubine are now facing charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were caught in the act of using illegal drugs in Tabuk City, Kalinga on June 25, 2022.
The arrested suspects were identified as Jeovanie Castillo Collado and Rizza Duli Agosto.
Personnel of Tabuk City Police Station (CPS) responded to a report of alleged concubinage lodge by the wife of suspect Jeovanie. Upon checking Jeovanie’s residence, police operatives caught the two suspects in the act of using illegal drugs resulting in their immediate arrest.
Seized during the arrest were 12 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 5 grams with a standard drug price of Php 34,000.00 and assorted drug paraphernalia used by the suspects.
Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and duly witnessed by Ms Lailanie Balao-ing, Department of Justice (DOJ) representative; and Ms Justine Gamboa-Amoyen, media representative.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition.
P62M MJ destroyed
As the result of the continuous marijuana clearing operations of PROCOR in the Cordillera, Php 62,376,000.00 worth of marijuana was destroyed in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga from June 24 to 26, 2022.
A total of 28 marijuana plantation sites were discovered in the mountains of Cordillera. Two of which were found in Benguet while 26 were found in Kalinga.
In a three-day operation dubbed as IMPLAN TAMBUR implemented in Tinglayan, Kalinga, joint operatives of Kalinga PPO and PDEA-CAR discovered a total of 310,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) with a standard drug price (SDP) of Php 62,000,000.00 in Brgy. Buscalan, Brgy. Butbut, and Brgy. Loccong.
In a separate marijuana eradication operation in Brgy. Badeo, Kibungan, Benguet, joint operatives of Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Benguet Police Provincial Office, and PDEA-CAR discovered 80 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of Php 16,000.00 and 3 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with an SDP of Php 360,000.00.
All marijuana plants and dried stalks were destroyed on-site. No cultivator was apprehended. An investigation is ongoing to identify the possible cultivators.
