P1.4M+ MJ recovered from accident
Two individuals will now be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were caught transporting marijuana in Kennon Road, Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet on July 3, 2022.
According to the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as Jimmsie Galang Salazar, 40, resident of Bacoor, Cavite and Justine Jerome Baisa, 28, resident of San Mateo, Rizal.
According to the same report, the suspects were involved in a vehicular traffic accident wherein their vehicle’s brakes malfunctioned which caused the driven vehicle to flip.
When personnel of BCPO Kennon Road Police Station (PS8) arrived on the scene, a resident of the said place tipped that a box was thrown on the cliff by the two suspects.
Upon checking, 12 tubes of dried marijuana leaves weighing more or less 12,000 grams with a standard drug price of Php 1,440,000.00 were discovered by the operatives which prompted the immediate arrest of the two suspects.
Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and duly witnessed by Brgy. Kagawad Domingo Wayan of Brgy. Camp Four and Dionisio Dennis Jr, media representative.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Tuba MPS for documentation and proper disposition.
PROCOR is ready for the rainy season
Following the announcement of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) declaring the start of the rainy season, PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALDO LEE instructed to conduct an inventory of personnel with training on disaster response and conduct accounting of Search and Rescue (SAR) equipment.
Acting on the instructions of the Regional Director, PCOL BYRON TEGUI-IN, Chief of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division (RCADD) disclosed that there are 2,107 personnel of PROCOR trained in disaster response, of which, 497 personnel are assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15); 309 in Benguet Police Province Office (PPO); 307 in Kalinga PPO; 290 in Mtn. Province PPO; 244 in Abra PPO; 221 in Ifugao PPO; 149 in Baguio City Police Office; and 90 in Apayao PPO.
One team each from Ifugao PPO, Kalinga PPO and Apayao PPO is the latest addition to the inventory of trained personnel following their completion of the five-day Disaster Preparedness, Search, Rescue and Retrieval Operations Training organized by the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) in Santa Ana, Cagayan from June 27 to July 1, 2022.
“We are regularly conducting SAR equipment inspections and we are working closely with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council for a possible response. We also have SAR-trained canines and a tracking dog”, PBGEN LEE said in a statement.
“Since the start of the rainy season, we are prompt in providing police response regarding reports on vehicular accidents and landslides in some parts of the Cordillera. With the help of other government agencies, WE ARE MORE THAN READY to assist, however, we are appealing to the public to continue monitoring weather forecasts and educate themselves regarding disaster preparedness tips” PBGEN LEE added.
52 studes finish youth summit in Bauko
Fifty-two Grade 11 students of Mabaay National High School have completed the three-day Moving the Youth Towards Peace and Development (MYPD) summit held at Mabaay National High School, Bauko, Mountain Province on June 25, 2022.
The summit was organized by the personnel of Mtn. Province Police Provincial Office in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Bauko, faculty and staff of Mabaay NHS, and KKDAT members of Bontoc, Sabangan & Tadian.
Discussed during the said summit was the role of youth in the community & church, and leadership development while lectures on crime prevention tips, first aid, road safety measures and mental health awareness were conducted by guest lecturers.
Further, team building, moral upliftment activities, and workshops were conducted to reinforce the learnings during the lectures.
The summit was held to hone the participants’ potential in becoming more responsible citizens and leaders in advocating peace and development.
