7 DRUG PERSONALITIES BUSTED; 3.9M WORTH OF MARIJUANA, ERADICATED
As the result of the continuous campaign of Police Regional Office Cordillera against illegal drugs, seven (7) drug personalities were arrested and Php 3,916,000.00 worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in the two-day operation conducted in Baguio City, Kalinga, and Benguet on July 21 and 22, 2022.
Based on the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as: Selly Marie Canao, 20; Heidi Joy Simsim, 42; Lee Ann Omnas, 35; Claire Mirasol, 45; Jumarie Merlin, 29; Jasem Reyes, 22 and Wilbert Gatawa, 31.
In Tabuk City, Kalinga, suspect Canao, listed as High-Value Individual (HVI), was arrested by the operatives of Tabuk City Police Station and PDEU of Kalinga PPO after she sold one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 5.0 grams with a standard drug price (SDP) of Php 34,000.00.
In La Trinidad, Benguet, suspect Simsim, listed as HVI, and suspects Omnas & Mirasol, both listed as Street Level Individuals (SLI), were arrested by the operatives of PROCOR Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), Regional Intelligence Division (RID) and Benguet PPO after they sold one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.8 grams with an SDP of Php 5,440.00.
Still, in La Trinidad, Benguet, suspect Merlin, listed as SLI, was arrested by the operatives of Benguet PPO after selling one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.77 grams with an SDP of Php 5,236.00.
In Buguias, Benguet, suspect Gatawa was arrested by the operatives of Buguias MPS and PDEU of Benguet PPO after he sold one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.12 grams with an SDP of Php 816.00.
In another buy-bust operation in Baguio City, suspect Reyes was arrested by BCPO Legarda Road Police Station (PS5) after selling one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.5 grams with an SDP of Php 3,400.00.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the respective operating units for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, operatives of Benguet PPO and PDEA-CAR conducted marijuana eradication operations in Brgy Palina, Kibungan, Benguet that resulted in the discovery and destruction of 26 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with an SDP of Php 3,120,000.00.
In Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet, operatives of Bakun MPS have discovered 780 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with an SDP of Php 156,000.00.
In Brgy. Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga, operatives of Kalinga PPO discovered 5,000 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of Php 1,000,000.00.
All marijuana plants were destroyed on-site. No cultivator was apprehended during the said operations.
ABRA ADVENTURES V1, A SUCCESS
A ride-for-a-cause that was initiated by the men and women of the Abra police force was a success in promoting tourism in Abra and in raising funds for the different community outreach activities of Abra PPO.
According to the Acting Provincial Director of Abra PPO, PCOL MALY C CULA, a total of 273 bikers and riders have joined the July 23 event of which, 243 are Underbone motorcycles and 30 are big bikes.
As part of the 27th Police Community Relation Month celebration, the Abra Adventures v1 was initiated to showcase Abra’s beautiful sceneries, likewise, to raise funds for the different community works of Abra PPO.
As an advocate of responsible tourism and as a bike enthusiast, PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE graced the said event.
The Abra Adventures v1 route started in Camp Col Juan Villamor in Bangued and passed through the municipalities of Tayum, Dolores, Lagangilang, Bucay, Sallapadan, Manabo, and Luba via Tumbal River then to Tamac, Villaviciosa, parts of Ilocos Sur then to Pilar via Brgy. Lubing, Villaviciosa, San Isidro, Pidigan ending in Bangued.
