Former CNvoluntarily surrenders
A 30-year-old male former CPP-NPA-Terrorist (CNT) has withdrawn his support to the communist terrorist group (CTG) and personally surrendered to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE in Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on August 1, 2022.
The former CTG supporter voluntarily surrendered after the series of negotiations initiated by joint operatives of PROCOR and AFP with the help of the barangay officials and his family.
According to the former CTG, he is a former member of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) North Abra operating in the provinces of Abra and Apayao.
In his surrender, he turned over one (1) Cal 45 pistol with seven (7) live ammunitions to PBGEN LEE.
The former supporter is now under the custody of the PROCOR Regional Intelligence Division (RID) for proper documentation and is now undergoing debriefing.
75 youths attended dev’t session
in Apayao
A total of 75 Out-of-School Youth and learners from Kabugao National High School have completed the three-day Youth Development Session (YDS) initiated by the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Brgy. Lenneng, Kabugao, Apayao from July 28-30, 2022.
As part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a program of the Philippine Government under the DSWD, YDS aims to support the youths to achieve their holistic and optimal adolescent development, finish their studies, and have gainful employment or businesses to reduce intergenerational poverty.
Topics on peer pressure, being responsible and respectful social media users, making responsible choices, and understanding self-worth were discussed with the participating youths.
Also, deceptive propaganda and recruitment strategies were discussed followed by a signature campaign or “Sulat Kamay” showing the support of the youth in the government’s campaign for a peaceful and safe community.
Furthermore, the participants were able to plant a total of 100 Mahogany seedlings donated by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Conner, Apayao in Brgy. Lenneng before the session ends.
