Weeklong manhunt ops nets 23 wanted personalities; 64 municipalities recorded zero crime
As a result of stepped-up patrol operations, PROCOR recorded zero crime incidents in the sixty-four (64) municipalities in the region, while intensified manhunt operations resulted in the arrest of twenty-three (23) wanted personalities from July 30 to August 5, 2023.
Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the greatest number of arrests with fifteen (15) wanted persons apprehended, followed by the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) and Ifugao PPO with three (3) arrests each, and the Mountain Province PPO and Kalinga PPO with one (1) arrest each.
Highlighting the weeklong manhunt operation is the arrest of one individual listed as the No. 3 Most Wanted Person (MWP) at the City Level for the 3rd Quarter of CY 2023.
Meanwhile, as a result of the intensified police presence, sixty-four (64) municipalities in the different provinces of the region and five (5) police stations in Baguio City remain peaceful, as PROCOR recorded zero crime incidents in these areas during the same week.
Zero crime incidents were recorded in twenty-three (23) out of twenty-seven (27) municipalities in Abra; six (6) out of seven (7) municipalities in Apayao; eleven (11) out of thirteen (13) municipalities in Benguet; four (4) out of seven (7) municipalities in Kalinga; ten (10) out of eleven (11) municipalities in Ifugao; and the ten (10) municipalities in Mountain Province.
Further, the City Police Stations of Naguillian Road Police Station (PS) 1, Camdas PS2, Loakan PS4, Legarda PS5, and Aurora Hill PS6 also recorded zero crime incidents out of 10 police stations in Baguio City.
Carnapper who escapes from prison nabbed in Kalinga
As a result of the intensified manhunt operations of PRO Cordillera cops, a suspect who escaped from prison and went hiding for almost nine (9) years was finally collared in Brgy. San Quintin, Rizal, Kalinga on August 7, 2023.
Based on the reports submitted to the Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the arrested suspect was identified as Remynad Cabe, 38 years old, and a native of Diffun, Quirino Province. He is among the four (4) prisoners at Cabarrogis District Jail, BJMPPRO-II, who escaped on September 13, 2014. They were detained for violation of the anti-carnapping law.
The same report disclosed that joint operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), Regional Intelligence Unit 14 (RIU-14), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Region II Special Tactics and Response Team (BJMPRO-II STAR) immediately conducted an entrapment operation after receiving information through the iREPORT MO KAY TSIP SMS hotline of the PNP that an escapee was hiding at the said place of arrest.
The operatives arrested suspect Cabe through a memorandum from J/SSUPT AMELIA A RAYANDAYAN, Regional Director of BJMPRO-III, and Peter Irving Corvera, Undersecretary for Public Safety, DILG, dated September 14, 2014.
After documentation, suspect Cabe was turned over by Rizal MPS to the BJMPRO-II STAR TEAM for proper disposition.
The Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., expressed his profound gratitude to the reporter who was instrumental to the arrest of the suspect. “This only shows the strengthened collaboration of the PNP and the community where the people heed to our mantra: “Serbisyong nagkakaisa, sa trabaho, tulong tulong tayo” the RD said.
