Miner nabbed for selling shabu, MJ bricks found
A miner was arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Benguet while abandoned marijuana bricks were recovered by the Baguio City police last week.
The joint operatives of Itogon Municipal Police Station (MPS), Benguet Provincial Intelligence Division (PID), Drug Enforcement Unit and the Maneuvering Force Company arrested Romeo Atiwag Dulagan, Jr., 33, miner and a resident of Camanggaan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet after selling one plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” to the police operatives who acted as buyers during a buy-bust operation near the suspect’s residence yesterday afternoon.
Aside from the suspected “shabu” weighing 0.1978 grams, the P1,000.00 buy-bust money and a cellular phone were also confiscated from the suspect who happens to be a former drug surrenderer during the height of OPLAN “TOKHANG” in 2016.
Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) Regional Director PCSupt. Rolando Nana said that the police is continuously monitoring all the drug surrenderers in order to know if they are still involved in illegal drug activities.
Dulagan is now under the custody of the Itogon police and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehenssive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Moreover, seven bricks of marijuana was found in a sinkhole at Tabora Park, Lower Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City Tuesday night.
While officers of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 2 were patrolling the area, they noticed an abandoned backpack. When they checked it, they discovered inside it seven bricks of suspected dried marijuana bricks wrapped in a newspaper and plastic and assorted clothing.
The bricks weighing approximately one kilogram each were brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) for examination.
Dead male infantt
At around 10:00 AM of February 16, 2019 along the Children’s Park, Burnham Park, Kisad Road, Baguio City, a male lifeless infant wrapped with a black cloth and placed inside a transparent cellophane was found dumped in a garbage bin. The discovery by Charlie Casio Tallongen, 33, married, Baguio City garbage collector, native of Sadanga, Mtn. Prov. and resident of No.61, Holy Ghost, Baguio City. Tallongen and his companions were collecting garbage when they discovered the cadaver. The blood on the plastic aroused their suspicion that led to the discovery.
It cadaver was turned over to the Baguio Memorial Chapel. An autopsy was requested but no word yet as of press time if it was done.
Accidental death of arrested person
On February 15, 2019 at about 6:30 AM, Ruvilyn Baday Herman, 27, a resident of No. JA-248 Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet appeared at La Trinidad MPS to report that she was physically mauled by her boyfriend identified as Reynaldo Pilando Balas, 40, and residing at No. MA-28A, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet inside her residence. Responding police personnel proceeded to the area and was able to arrest the suspect.
The suspect was brought to La Trinidad MPS, was booked, the he requested to go to the comfort room. He was accompanied by PO3 Sim to the comfort room, however, the suspect suddenly pushed the latter and ran through the back door towards the compound of Benguet General Hospital. PO3 Sim and other personnel on duty gave chase but the suspect jumped over the perimeter fence and landed at the compound of Jeferson Sucdad. When the police were about to corner the suspect, they were surprised to hear from Jeferson Sucdad that the suspect was lying unconscious. The policemen immediately brought him to the hospital for treatment, however, he was declared dead on arrival.
Kalinga PNP destroys P26.5M worth of MJ
Over PHP26.5-million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by operating troops in a one-day operation last weekend in Tinglayan, Kalinga.
Joint personnel of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Kalinga Provincial Manuever Force Company (KPMFC), Lubuagan MPS, Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU-KPPO), PDEA-Cordillera and PDEA-Region 2 jointly implemented the Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan, PROJECT: “DOUBLE BARREL, OPLAN BALITOK” at Barangay Buscalan in the municipality of Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The troops were able to destroy 84,840 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 80 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with a total value of Php26,568,000.00 during one-day simultaneous operations in 11 marijuana plantation sites with a total land area of 10,180 square meters in barangay Buscalan on February 16, 2019.
Throughout the operation, the operating troops exerted efforts but failed to find and arrest the owners or cultivators.**
