P2.4M worth of MJ seized, 3 arrested
Three men were arrested and 22 marijuana bricks and in tubular form were confiscated by the police during a checkpoint operation along the Bontoc-Kalinga Road particularly at Sitio Cheta, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province Sunday morning of April 21, 2019.
Arrested marijuana carriers were identified as Paolalphiny Canilao Octavio, 20, student taking up Bachelor of Arts and Communications at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa and a resident of Las Vegas Street Putatan, Muntinlupa City, Jaden Rongavilla Residuo, 20, a resident of Buli, Muntinlupa City and John Loyd Ocampo Rojales, 21, and a resident of Buli, Muntinlupa City.
Before their arrest, a concerned citizen reported to the police that the suspects will be transporting illegal drugs on board a passenger jitney plying the Tinglayan – Bontoc route.
Immediately, joint personnel of Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) and members of PDEA – Mtn. Province conducted a checkpoint operation and was able to flag down said vehicle.
During the operation, 18 marijuana bricks and 4 in tubular form with an estimated total weight of 20.004 kilograms worth Php2,400,480.00, drug paraphernalia, assorted IDs and three cellular phones were seized from the bag packs of the suspects.
A case for Violation of RA 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Board of 2002 was filed against the suspects who are now detained at Bontoc MPS.
Vehicular accident resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries
On April 20, 2019, at around 10:00 AM personnel of Tabuk CPS responded to a vehicular accident at Sitio Binongsay, Malin-awa, Tabuk City, Kalinga involving a yellow ISUZU dump truck, bearing plate number BCN 592.
Investigation disclosed that when the dump truck driven by Mark John Sumaal Lazaro, 20, single, driver and resident of Mosimos, Dupag, Tabuk City, Kalinga were heading towards Barangay Balawag and upon reaching the place of incident particularly at the ascending portion of the road, the vehicle suddenly moved backwards. As a result, the vehicle fell more or less 5 meter into a ravine. All victims were brought to Kalinga Provincial Hospital, Almora General Hospital and Holy Trinity Medical Clinic by responding PNP personnel, BFP personnel and volunteers.

Recovered abandoned vehicle
At about 11:15 PM of April 18, 2019, personnel of CMFC, Baguio CPO established a COMELEC checkpoint at Sta. Lucia Subdivision, Asin Road, Baguio City when they flagged down a brown Chevrolet with Plate No. ABI 1736 which was previously alarmed for evading an arrest warrant. The driver of said vehicle fired two (2) shots towards the personnel manning the checkpoint, prompting them to return fire as the vehicle fled and evaded said checkpoint. Hot pursuit operation was conducted that led to the recovery of said vehicle abandoned at Purok 23, San Carlos Heights, Irisan, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that the driver of said vehicle was identified as Christian Del Prado Alvar aka “Sadeek,” a resident of No. 27 Amistad Road, Camp 7, Kennon Road, Baguio City. An operation for the possible arrest of the suspect is still ongoing.**
