Guns and ammos seized in Abra, 3 charged for illegal possession of firearms
Assorted high and low powered firearms and ammunition were seized in an abandoned car of one of the candidates running for mayor in Abra while three individuals were separately arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
Combined personnel of Tayum Municipal Police Station; CIDG, Abra; Regional Legal Office; and 1501st Maneuver Force Company, RMFB15; and members of the AFP implemented the search warrant against Jose Marie Mailed Brillentes, 27, mayoralty candidate for Tayum, Abra for illegal firearms Friday afternoon of April 26, 2019.
Seized during the operation were three (3) 5.56 rifles, four (4) cal .45, all loaded with ammunition; 175 live ammunition of assorted firearms; seven (7) assorted long and short magazines; one slingbag containing several identification cards and cash money amounting to Php301.00 and one iPhone X cellular phone. All pieces of evidence were found in an abandoned Ford Ranger pick-up parked at Sitio An-anaao, Brgy. Budac, Tayum, Abra.
Brillentes who is the subject of the search warrant for violation of RA 10591 and violation of a COMELEC resolution was not present during the implementation of said warrant and is now subject of a manhunt operation while seized items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units for documentation and proper disposition.
On the other hand, three gun holders were nabbed in a series of operations.
Joint personnel of Lagawe police, Intelligence personnel of Ifugao Police Provincial Office and CIDG arrested Cosme D Aguihao, 29, at his residence in Cuta, Lagawe, Ifugao in the early morning of April 29, 2019. Confiscated was one magnum .357 loaded with 7 live ammunition.
Another suspect identified as Edwin G. Ramirez, 26, a resident of Barangay Balacbac, Baguio City was apprehended Sunday morning of April 28, 2019 while Victor Tiwang Macaiba, 48, a resident of Brgy. Romualdez, Rizal, Kalinga was accosted in the afternoon of April 27, 2019. Both were arrested in their respective residences by virtue of warrants of arrest for Violation of RA 10591 known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Judge Ethelwolda A. Jaravata of RTC, Branch 32, Agoo, La Union recommended a bail bond of Php80,000.00 for Ramirez while Judge Jerson E. Angog of RTC Branch 25, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga recommended Php120,000.00 bailbond for Macaiba.
“The proliferation of loose firearms pose threat to the peace and order situation in the region that’s why I am urging you to conduct a sustained drive against loose firearms especially now that the election period is at its peak”, General Israel Ephraim Dickson, PRO-COR Regional Director said.
Shooting incident
On April 27, 2019 at about 2:12 AM, a shooting incident was reported at Flora MPS that transpired at Poblacion West, Flora, Apayao.The victim was identified as RONALD BUGGAY BUSAY, 42, laborer while the suspect was SILVERIO SIPSIP JUAN, 49, married, retired from the Philippine Army and both residents of Poblacion West, Flora, Apayao.
Initial investigation disclosed that on April 26, 2019 at about 10:45 PM, the victim was watching a dance during a wedding celebration when suddenly the suspect appeared and shot him once hitting his right cheek. The suspect immediately escaped after the incident while the victim died on the spot. Responding PNP personnel of Flora MPS requested for SOCO assistance and they were able to recover one (1) fired cartridge case of a caliber .45.
A manhunt operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspect while the cadaver of the victim was brought by his relatives to the RPV Funeral Home at Quirino, Luna, Apayao. Motive of the incident is allegedly a personal grudge.
Robbery with intimidation
On April 30, 2019 at about 2:00 PM, a reported case of Robbery with Intimidation transpired along Magsaysay Avenue, Happy Homes, Old Lucban, Baguio City at about 10:40 AM of same date on complaint of a male minor, messenger, and a resident of Purok 1 Pinsao proper, Baguio City against the arrested suspect identified as Junior “aka Prince” Dagsen Camilo, male,18 y/o, single, and a resident of Acupan, Itogon, Benguet.
Investigation disclosed that while the victim was walking at the Y-SHAPE overpass along Upper Magsaysay, Baguio City, the suspect approached and asked him if he know a certain Jacob who mauled a person at Maharlika. The victim answered that he doesn’t know about the incident but still the suspect insisted. After which the suspect followed the victim until they rode the jitney and alighted in front of Hotel Supreme. While they were at the staircase beside the Hotel Supreme, the suspect took the black Nike shoe bag of the victim containing a white wallet with Php200.00, black/white bull cap worth Php 750.00, and two false teeth worth Php2,560.00.
At about 3:00 PM of the same date, a follow-up operation was conducted by personnel of PS2 accompanied by the victim and her mother at the place of incident but the suspect was not there. However, when the victim and the police officers went to Bonifacio Street they were able to locate the suspect and recovered from him the black Nike shoe bag, and the bull cap of the victim. However, the cash and his false teeth were missing. Case is now for inquest.**
