Five held for illegal possession of firearms, etc.
Four individuals were arrested for violating the loose firearms law. Confiscated from them were assorted forearms, ammo and grenades during a series of police operations from June 24 to 28, 2019 dubbed as Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO).
In Ifugao, two persons were arrested at Udan’s Videoke Bar in Tuplac, Kiangan on the night of June 24, 2019 after threatening a victim who immediately reported the incident to the police which led to their arrest. They were identified as Marvin Dum-an, and Charles Bastor ,both residents of Panubtuban, Asipulo, Ifugao. Confiscated from the possession of Dum-an was a revolver Cal.38 while a tactical knife was taken from Bastor.
In other operations three (3) persons were arrested by virtue of search warrants..
Suspect Rolando B Bersamina, 50, a resident of Sitio Alimbubuok, Brgy. Sao-atan, Bangued, Abra was apprehended in the morning of June 25, 2019 and the police confiscated from him one (1) cal. 45, one (1) magazine assembly for cal. 45 and 7 live ammunition for cal. 45. Moreover, his son-in-law, Sherwin Dometita, who was present durng the operation was arrested as he was in possession of 13 live ammunition for a caliber .22 which were confiscated.
Another suspect identified as Eliseo Daguao Carlos Jr., 38, farmer and a resident of San Jose, Malayugan, Flora, Apayao was apprehended on the same date and the police confiscated one (1) homemade shotgun and one (1) 12GA ammunition.
14 drug personalities arrested
In the implementation of SACLEO (see preceding story), six drug pushers including four members of the Cyrus Group were nabbed in buy-busts and eight drug users were arrested in different pot sessions.
P12 million worth of marijuana bricks were taken from the members of the Cyrus Group at Purok 4 Brgy. Bulanao Tabuk City, Kalinga in the afternoon of June 28, 2019. Arrested were identified as Jehoshaphat Agod Y Balliyao a.k.a “DEO”, 23, driver and a resident of Poblacion , Tinglayan, Kalinga; Ceasar Marngo y Dalutag a.k.a “CYRUS”, 35; Ganipis Baggas Y Macaiba a.k.a “GANIP”, 34, farmer; Joey Marngo Y Dalutag a.k.a “JOEY”, 28; all residents of Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga. After investigation, they were found out to be members of the big time drug syndicate operating in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Kalinga province. Ceasar Marngo y Dalutag was previously arrested in Quezon City for possession of 40 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, however, the case was dismissed which caused his release from jail in 2017.
Aside from the 100 kilograms of marijuana bricks with a Dangerous Drug Board Value of Php12,000,000.00, a caliber 45 pistol loaded with 7 live ammunition were also confiscated from them. The firearms was in the possession of Cyrus.
In another operation, two female drug pushers identified as Rhea M Ormita, 39, and Mary Grace P Sabroso, 34, were collared in their residence at East Quirino Hill, Baguio City in the night of June 28, 2019. Confiscated evidence from their possession were 7 sachets of shabu.

In Benguet, police apprehended drug users identified as Stafin Calion Olsim Jr, 54, and resident of Toyong, Pico; Raymark Sosa Granil, 25, porter, native of Tarlac and resident of Betag; Ariel Bawas Degyem, 38, porter, and resident of Western Buyagan, Poblacion; and Mark Jason Kidsolan Nugal, 30, and resident of Induyan, Alno, all in La Trinidad, Benguet. They were arrested at Toyong, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet in the evening of June 24, 2019 after a concerned citizen informed the police of their ongoing pot session. Evidence confiscated were eight (8) heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, and drug paraphernalia.
Also, drug users Arnel Elliad Gatawa, 39, a resident of Bad-ayan, Baculongan Sur, Buguias, Benguet and Dexter Galawa Locante,42, and a resident of Palakad, Cattlubong, Bugias , Benguet were caught in the act of using illegal drugs at the basement of Suligay Building, Abatan, Buguias, Benguet in the afternoon of June 30, 2019. Recovered evidences were an opened small plastic transparent sachet containing residues of suspected shabu and drug paraphernlia.
In Kalinga, suspects named Ace F. Wayet, 31, a resident of Balag-ey St. Casigayan, Tabuk City and Gabriel Dawayan, 52, a resident of Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City were also apprehended in the house of Dawayan in the afternoon of June 26, 2019. Confiscated from them were one heat sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
All suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.**
