Shooting, hacking and stabbing incidents
On June 15, 2019 at around 4:00 p.m. in Tuliao, Calanan, Tabuk City, Kalinga, a shooting, hacking, and stabbing incidents transpired wherein the victims were Clinton Serquiña, Ranny Serquiña and Ronnie Serquiña. The suspects were Lino Gunnawa, Abby Gunnawa, Gonzales Gunnawa and Yadan Gunnawa.
Investigation disclosed that the parties were called to the barangay hall concerning family matters. After the hearing, while on their way home there was a heated argument that resulted in a shooting, fist fight, hacking and stabbing. The victims were rushed to Kalinga Provincial Hospital but Clinton Serquina was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician due to a hack wound. Yadan Gunnawa was rushed to Almora General Hospital due to a gunshot wound, while Lino and Abby Gunnawa are at large. Gonzales Gunnawa was arrested and brought to Tabuk CPS for disposition. Further investigation is being undertaken.
Physical injuries involving foreigners
On June 15, 2019 at around 9:40PM at No.135, Bakakeng Old Site, policemen to a case of physical injuries involving foreign nationals on complaint of Dexter Lachica Tresmanio, 23, single and a resident of No.177 Bakakeng Old Site, Baguio City against two male foreign nationals from Papua New Guniea identified as Clye Ravini, 23, IT student at University of the Cordilleras, and presently residing at Camdas, Baguio City and Rodnuy Aii, 23, student at Easter College, and a resident at Easter Hills Subdivision, Lower Pinget, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that the victim was on his way home when he stopped at Rabang Store to buy coffee but then was suddenly approached by the two foreigners and one of them challenged the victim to a fist fight and then suddenly punched his face. The victim ran towards their house but the two foreigners and continued punching him. The foreigners were arrested.
12 drug suspects fall
Recently, four men were caught in a pot session at Purok 2, Tam-awan Rd, Pinsao Proper, Baguio City, on the night of June 15, 2019. Apprehended were street vendors William Sabado Casibang, 26, Joemamel Valera Dipatuan, 35, and Rasul Valera Dipatuan; and Dario Embat Dacera, 35, a barber. Confiscated from them were three pieces of plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one black pouch and assorted drug paraphernalia.
In another operation, three suspects landed in jail after they were caught in possession of dried marijuana plants in front of Cable Cafe, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province, Sunday afternoon of July 14, 2019. They were Michael Marciano Macunat, 27, gym instructor, Kent Tyron Rega Bejasa, 23, and a 17 year old student, all residents of Muntinlupa City. They were apprehended after a concerned citizen informed the police that suspects were carrying marijuana plants. As a result, 10 tubular form and 1 brick dried marijuana leaves were confiscated from them.
Moreover, five drug traders were arrested in a buy-bust operation after they sold suspected shabu to the operatives who acted as poseur buyers.
A high value target and a PCSO agent, Errol Carlos Singson Ibuna aka Errol, 36, native of Ilocos Sur and a resident of City Camp Proper, Baguio City was apprehended at Nova Lodge, Bakakeng Central, Baguio City while a laborer identified as Christian Lopina Caluza, 23, and presently residing at Delos Reyes St. Outlook Drive, Baguio City was arrested at City Limit, Binanga Sur, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet. The arrest of the duo took place on July 11, 2019.
Confiscated from Ibuna were three (3) sachets of suspected shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia while two (2) sachets of suspected shabu, black OPPO cellular phone, Php500.00 boodle money and P500.00 buy-bust money were seized from Caluza.
Finally, on July 12, 2019, a drug pusher known as Aquino Gonayon Y Caddawen a.k.a. Kenny Gonayon Y Gallema with the nickname Kinnung, 41, and a resident of Ubbog, Magsaysay, Tabuk City, Kalinga was arrested at Silao St., Bulanao Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga, while James Lucas Espada, 42, farmer, and Claire Dicoy Cati-an, 26, laborer, and both residents of Mankayan, Benguet were apprehended in Sitio Ambabag, Brgy. Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet.
Evidence confiscated from Gonayon were one transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and Php1, 000.00 cash money while two sachets containing suspected shabu; Php1, 000.00 buy-bust money; six (6) assorted aluminum foil; two Nokia keypad cellphones; and one brown leader pouch were seized from Espada and Cati-an.
All arrested suspects are now under detention as charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against them.
PROCOR police will continue steering intensified anti-illegal drug operations region wide. “The war on drugs will continue for as long as there are people who insist of using/pushing drugs in the region”, the Regional Director PBGen Israel Ephraim T Dickson said.
