Theft
On May 14, 2018 at around 7:15 PM, Germilyn Cambobo Bugtong, 26 years old, married, self-employed, native of Balili, Mankayan, Benguet and residing at No. AD 281-A Central Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet personally reported to La Trinidad MPS that on May 14, 2018 at around 5:30 PM, Judith Dondonen Dagupen, 22 years old, single, vendor, native of Sadanga, Mountain Province and presently residing at No. 76 East Quirino Hill, Baguio City stole the complainant’s Adidas rubber shoes worth P4,000.00.
According to the complainant, she left her residence and went to Km. 5, Pico, La Trinidad at around 3:30 PM. When she was on her way home, she met the suspect and saw him holding a transparent ecobag with her shoes in it. She confronted the suspect and grabbed her socks which was still inside the said shoes.
Responding personnel of La Trinidad MPS arrested the suspect. Case is being prepared for filing.
Vehicular accident
At about 1:10 PM of May 15, 2018, a vehicular accident resulting in physical injuries was reported to the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), Baguio CPO. The incident transpired at about 11:10 AM of same day along Harrison Road fronting Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) building, Baguio City wherein a wagon type taxi with plate no. AYT-650 driven by an unidentified male driver accidentally hit Marciana Tomeg Balusdan, 60 years old, widow and resident of No. 609 Tennerece, San Vicente, Baguio City. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was brought by the taxi driver to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medical treatment. The said taxi driver immediately left the victim at the hospital that prompted the responding personnel of TEU to flash alarm the description of his driven taxi. The case is still under investigation.
Drowning incident
At around 12:00 PM of May 15, 2018, a drowning incident transpired at Ancheta’s Resort located in Lower Maton, Pudtol, Apayao wherein the victim was identified as Christine Joy Torrejas, 18 years old, single, high school graduate and resident of Mabuttal East, Ballesteros, Cagayan.
Investigation disclosed that the victim and her family went to Ancheta’s Resort to have a family celebration. The victim and her cousin Jasmine Lyca Fronda went for swimming in the river. While the victim was swimming on a narrow part of the river, she stepped on a slippery rock under the water which caused her to slide and be carried by the currents to a deep portion. Upon seeing that the victim was drowning, Ms. Fronda immediately informed their companions at the cottage who responded immediately, but upon arrival at the river, they already saw the body of the victim floating on the water. Personnel of Luna MPS who happened to be in the area brought the victim to the Amma Jadsac District Hospital but she was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
3 arrested for firearm ban violation and confiscation of 2 hand grenades
PRO-Cordillera confiscated 4 assorted firearms, 2 hand grenades and 14 live ammunition for different calibers and arrested 3 suspects in the period May 7-13, 2018.
Noteworthy is the arrest of Vic Edelito Duarna Murillo, 48 years old and a resident of Riverside, Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet. He was arrested in the evening of May 6, 2018 for violation of the COMELEC gun ban and grave threats. Confiscated is a cal. 38 paltic without serial number loaded with 6 live bullets and 2 hand grenades.
In another operation, personnel of La Trinidad MPS arrested Nelson Inagcong Sumerwe, 52, and resident of Piripin Bato, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet in the evening of May 11, 2018. Confiscated from the suspect was a cal. 45 with serial number 2644520 with inserted magazine loaded with 8 live ammunition.
Finally, 2 firearms described as a NORINCO caliber .45 with serial number BA30756-10-246 and a Remington cal. 45 with serial number 159820 were recovered at a poultry at Sitio Lidliddaac, Macray, Bangued, Abra. Said firearms were kept by suspects in a shooting incident which transpired at Brgy Macray, Bangued, Abra. The recovery came after the arrest of a minor suspect whose 2 companions evaded arrest.
All arrested suspects together with the confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units while documents for filing of appropriate charges are being prepared.
