BCPO arrests 34 and confiscates over 4-million worth of marijuana bricks
In the Bagauio City police campaign against illegal drugs from July 22 to 28, 24 drug suspects were collared in a series of operation. Also seized were 52 sachets of suspected shabu and 38 bricks of dried marijuana leaves worth Php4,070,386.00. The most recent operation was on the night of July 28, 2019 where personnel of Station 2, Baguio CPO, PDEA-Mtn. Province, PDEU, Mtn. Province PPO, PDEA-Baguio, and PDEA-Oriental Mindoro, arrested Ariston Antonio, Stazy Gerodiaz, and Daniel Bagnas Villalubos, all aged 18 years old and natives and residents of Tarlac City; a 17 year old minor and three more minors aged 16 years old. They were caught in possession of 29 bricks of marijuana leaves weighing more or less 24 kilos and 50 grams worth PhP2,886,000.00 at Slaughter Bus Terminal, Brgy. Santo Nino, Baguio City.
Likewise, seven (7) drug suspects were separately arrested on July 25, 2019 during the Simultaneous Anti Criminality Law Enforcement Operation in Baguio City which resulted in the confiscation of 45 sachets of suspected shabu. While another 5 drug violators were apprehended on July 23, 2019 with a total confiscation of 10 sachets of suspected shabu, Php1,000.00 buy-bust money, Php14,000.00 worth of boodle money, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Moreover, a buy bust operation at Brgy Santo Niño, Slaughter Compound, Baguio City on July 22, 2019 led to the arrest of a female drug dealer identified as Angeline Conching Asistio, 20, along with her companions identified as Mike L Aguilar, 23; Ceasar Santa Theresa Alanin, 24; Jonnel Gumapos Forbes, 22; and a 16 year old minor who were in possession of suspected marijuana. Ms. Asistio sold some bricks of marijuana leaves to an operative who acted as poseur buyer that led to their arrest and the confiscation of nine (9) bricks of marijuana leaves and 1 plastic pack of marijuana leaves amounting to PhP1,184,386.00.
In the accounting of wanted persons, 19 were arrested, while in the drive against loose firearms, two firearms and one (1) hand grenade were surrendered to the police.
Benguet governor graces PROCOR’s 24th PCR month culminating activity
Police Regional Office-Cordillera culminated the 24th Police-Community Relations (PCR) month celebrations with the Theme: “Sambayanan, Mahalagang Kaakibat ng Kapulisan sa Pagtaguyod ng Mapayapa at Maunlad na Bayan” with Governor Melchor Diclas of Benguet Province, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Highlights of the program was the awarding of outstanding PNP personnel, units and stakeholders who displayed significant contributions and invaluable services leading to the attainment of Police-community relations activities. The awards were presented by the Guest of Honor, and assisted by the members of the Command Group led by the Regional Director, PBGen. Israel Ephraim T Dickson.
For the individual awards, plaques of recognition were given to PLTCOL Tessie B Sarmiento of BPPO for being adjudged as Outstanding PCR Senior PCO; PCPT Basilio K Hopdayan Jr. of Mtn. Province adjudged as Outstanding PCR Junior PCO; PSMS Dwight Sean A Arukod, BPPO- Outstanding PCR Senior PNCO; and PSSg Jeannet P Pastores of BPPO- Outstanding PCR Junior PNCO. They were awarded for their contributions in strengthening the partnership between the police and the community.
For the Unit Awards, Benguet PPO was adjudged as Outstanding Police Provincial Office; Baguio City Police Office as Outstanding City Police Office; Station 5- Baguio City Police Office -Outstanding City Police Station, and Lagangilang Municipal Police Station as the Outstanding Municipal Police Station, also a national awardee.
Furthermore, the Regional Police Community Relations also recognized the following stakeholders of the different provinces for their support to PROCOR programs and activities: Ms Carmelita Bersalona, Chairman, Abra Convenor’s Group and Abra Provincial Advisory Council; Hon. Josephine Bangsil, Mayor of Luna, Apayao; United Korean Community Association-BCPO; Hon. Roderick Awingan, Vice Mayor, La Trinidad, Benguet- BPPO; Alfonso Lista Municipal Advisory Council; Mrs Florence Valdez, member of Lubuagan Municipal Advisory Council; Ms Carmen Malabong, Vice President of Mtn. Province Youth Organization; Ms Liza Agoot, Bureau Chief, Philippine News Agency- Baguio City; and Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center.
Also, certificates of appreciation were presented to the Selection Committee for Best PCR Awards: Atty Costa Joy Anniban, NAPOLCOM-CAR, Mr Rene Vincent Ballug- DILG-Benguet and Prof. Albert Guinguino Jr of PROCOR-RAC.
Likewise, the NAPOLCOM-CAR recognized the significant contributions of our local chief executives for their outstanding service to the community and invaluable leadership, diligence and dedication that paved the way for the promotion of a community and service-oriented policing (CSOP) system and sustained good partnership among local executives, community and Law enforcement agencies. Awardees were: Hon. Cresencio Pacalso, former Provincial Governor, Benguet; Atty Mauricio Domogan, former City Mayor, Baguio; and Hon. Romeo Salda, Municipal Mayor, Municipality of La Trinidad.
In his speech, Governor Melchor Diclas commended all the awardees and applauded the PNP for forging relationship with the community towards a peaceful, orderly and harmonious community interaction.
He reiterated that corruption erodes people’s trust in government and institutions, and makes public policies less effective and fair. “Let us build strong and transparent institutions that can turn the flow against corruption. Let us fight corruption,” Gov. Diclas said.
