8 drug pushers fall
Eight individuals including two minors were separately apprehended by the police over the weekend for drug pushing.
Recently, Christopher E. Biendima, 21, former drug surrenderer, a tricycle driver by occupation, and a resident of Barangay Calaba, Bangued, Abra was arrested at Zone 5, Bangued, Abra in the afternoon of August 11, 2019 after selling illegal drugs to an operative who acted as a poseour-buyer. Confiscated from his possession were one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu; Php5,000.00 marked money; one Lenovo cellphone; and one motorcycle with plate number 3599 AY.
In another operation conducted on August 10, 2019, Two female drug pushers identified as Mary June M. Palalay alyas MJ, 29, resident of San Luis Extension Purok 7, Baguio City and Maria Christine G. Layang, 34, resident of Asin Road KM 4, Baguio City were arrested at Purok 7, San Luis Ext., Baguio City in the afternoon, while Razheed R. Alwahid, 36, Freelance Disc Jockey (DJ), and a resident of Aristotle St. Vista Verde Village Brgy. San Jose Cainta Rizal was arrested in Poblacion, Bontoc, Mtn. Province in the morning of same date. Items confiscated from the two females were three sachets of suspected shabu, Php15,500,000.00 boodle money, Php500.00 cash money, one sunglass, and a cellular phone, while two tubular dried marijuana stalks with leaves and fruiting tops, wrapped in a transparent plastic with dangerous drug board value of Php450,000.00 was confiscated from Alwahid.
Three other drug peddlers were apprehended in Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga identified as Rogelio B. Paot, 42, and a resident of Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga, together with 2 high school minor students. Seized from their possession were 25pcs of 60ml bottles containing marijuana oil, buy-bust boodle money, one cal. 45 ARMSCOR pistol bearing SN 113847 with one magazine loaded with 7 live ammo, one Honda XRM motorcycle, and one unit Nokia cellphone.
Finally, Benros Johil Saldua Medrano, 21, Criminology student and a resident of Cabildatan, Zone 7, Bangued, Abra was arrested in the afternoon of August 9, 2019 at Linasin, Zone 1, Bangued, Abra. Evidence seized were one rolled paper and one small plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves, Php1,000.00 boodle money and 1 black Iphone 4s.
All arrested personalities are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, while the minors were taken custody by the Local Social Welfare Development officer.
Soil Erosion
On August 14, 2019 at about 2:40 AM at Paltingan, Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet, personnel of La Trinidad MPS, Benguet PPO responded to a soil erosion that affected houses thereat. The families of Weddy Tacio Aquien and Renee Talledo Milanes evacuated to the nearby Osting Compound. La Trinidad MPS personnel are still in the area getting additional information and extending help to the victims..
Accidents
On August 13, 2019 at about 4:00 PM at Gaday, Eheb, Tinoc Ifugao, personnel of Tinoc MPS, Ifugao PPO responded to a vehicular accident wherein a Delica van with plate number URN 533 driven by Wilson T. Batang-e Jr. fell into a ravine about 500 meters deep that resulted his death. Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle lost its brakes.
And at around 11:45 PM of August 14, 2019 at Bay-o, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet, a vehicular accident resulting in physical injuries and damage to property transpired involving an Isuzu Ertiga, colored gray, with plate No. YAA285 and driven by Rev. Canon David Bacate Tabo-oy of the Anglican Church and a Wrangler type jeep, colored red with plate Nr TNB 347 driven by Salvador Ciano, a resident of Bagto, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet. The reverend is a columnist of this paper.
Investigation disclosed that the Isuzu Ertiga was bound for Baguio City when it collided with the Wrangler type jeep bound for Itogon resulting in damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Wrangler jeep who was apparently under the influence of liquor was rushed to Baguio General Hospital for medical treatment after sustaining injuries while Fr. Tabo-oy was safe and not injured.
Fire incident
On or about 8:45 PM of August 14, 2019, personnel of Mankayan MPS and BFP responded to a fire incident in Lepanto National High School, Paco, Mankayan, Benguet wherein a building with three classrooms was totally razed by fire.
Investigation disclosed that the security guard, Mr. Marvin Y Binibise, noticed the fire started at the Grade 7 classroom then immediately spread burning all other classrooms of the building. “Fire out” was declared by BFP Mankayan at about 9:35 PM of same date. Nobody was injured and the cause of fire and cost of damage are still bot determined.
