Php 3.8M worth of marijuana seized, 5 couriers captured
Five drug couriers were separately arrested for transporting marijuana bricks worth P3,882,000.00 during anti-illegal drug operations conducted by the Mountain Province police over the past days.
Recently, a free-lancer video editor identified as Eliterio Celada Pazon, 25, and a resident of Sta. Rita, Barangay Guiguinto, Bulacan who was on board a utility vehicle bound for Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province was arrested in a checkpoint at Sitio Nacagang, Barangay Tambingan, Sabangan, Mountain Province in the afternoon of August 18, 2019. Confiscated from his possession were 10 bricks of suspected marijuana leaves placed inside his backpack wrapped with black cellophane with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1,182,000.00.
Moreover, two 17 year old minors who are residents of Sampaloc St., Doña Nicosia Subdivision, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City were taken into custody by the police after they were intercepted at Sitio Paleng, Barangay, Lagan, Sabangan, Mtn. Province around 7:30 AM of August 15, 2019. The duo were on board a Rising Sun Bus when it was flagged down by the police for inspection. At this juncture, four marijuana bricks with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P480,000.00 were confiscated from their possession that led to their arrest.
Another pair of passengers identified as Jay R. Farala, 22 and Joshua Brylle Dela Paz, 23, both from Cruz St. Parang, Marikina City were captured at the Rising Sun Bus Terminal, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mtn. Province at about 8:00 AM of August 15, 2019. Confiscated from them were 12.95 kgs. of suspected marijuana with an estimated value of Php1,500,000.00.
Finally, four bricks and two tubular marijuana leaves wrapped in a transparent cellophane placed in a sack with an estimated street value of P720,000. 00 was recovered along the Bontoc – Kalinga road particularly at Sitio Cheka-a, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mtn. Province on the morning of August 16, 2019. Said contraband was left abandoned by unidentified persons who might have monitored the intensified campaign against illegal drugs thru checkpoints.
All arrested suspects were charged for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) while the minors were turned over to the LSWD.
It has been a noticeable trend that more teen age Manileños are becoming drug couriers. PROCOR PNP warns the public especially the parents to monitor and safeguard their children especially the youth because they are easily lured by syndicates by offering or promising huge amounts of money in exchange for their services as couriers
Vehicular accident
At about 3:30 PM of August 18, 2019, at Sitio Tapaw, Chupac, Barlig, Mountain Province, an Isuzu Trooper bearing Plate No. REX 317 driven by FO1 Julio B. Bilog Jr., 31, BFP member and a native of Tetep-an, Sagada, Mountain Province fell into a ravine more or less 40 meters deep.
Investigation disclosed that the driver together with his passengers: Verlee Mae Longan Bilog, 27, wife of the driver; Julia Eveleigh L. Bilog, 2 months old and Leoncio Balaso Longan, 24, were on their way to Natonin, Mountain Province when the accident happened. All the victims were brought to the Barlig District Hospital for medical attention but Julia Eveleigh Bilog was later transferred to Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital, Bauko, Mountain Province for further observation.
Robbery
At around 1:10 PM of August 19, 2019 at Km. 3, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet, police officers arrested SHERWIN GALINGON BILOG aka BAYAWE by virtue of a WOAfor robbery with force upon things issued in Criminal Case No. R-19646 with a bail of Php36,000.00. Suspect is a member of an Acetylene Gang operating nationwide under the “Gipson Beligen Group” a.k.a “Sagandoy Acetylene Group”.
Rape
On August 19, 2019 at around 1:00 PM in Lagan, Sabangan, Mountain Province, personnel of Sabangan MPS and Mtn. Province PPO arrested JONATHAN C. BUSLOTAN JR. aka PAL-OG by virtue of a WOA issued by Judge Sergio T. Angnganay Jr of RTC Branch 35, Bontoc, Mountain Province for the crime of rape. The case was docketed as Criminal Case No. 2019-7-8-42 with no bail.
