Theft (shoplifting)
It transpired at about 5:15 PM of September 8, 2019 inside SM Department Store, Luneta Hill, Baguio City wherein complainant, in behalf of the management, is Raymund Joseph Espiritu Sotero, 25 years old, single, born on March 18, 1994 at Baguio City and residing at No. 162-H Parisas St., Camp 7, Baguio City while suspect was identified as Joneanne Apasan Sulang, 20 years old, single, unemployed and a resident at Bua, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet.
Investigation disclosed that one of the store’s civilian guard in the person of Amante Mapanao Aratas was roving when he saw the suspect holding an empty pink SM Store eco bag and shopping basket roaming at the area and took several items then put it in the basket she was holding. Th guard then saw the suspect go at the corner of the linen section to put the contents of the shopping basket to the pink SM Store eco bag, left the basket on the floor and walked towards the exit. He followed the suspect and called her attention outside the department store and asked for the receipt of payment for the items but she couldn’t show any. The unpaid items she took which were 3 pcs of Watson XL Watershield Plaster; one (1) pc Pampers L (9-14kgs); one (1) pc Robby Rabbit Jacket; and three (3) pcs Dickies socks with a total value of Php 4,032.75.
Suspect is now in jail.
Robbery
An alleged robbery happened between midnight and 6:30 AM of September 8, 2019 at La Trinidad National High School located at Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet and was reported at about 11:50 AM.
According to Lucio Tanacio Aguindang Sr., 59, married, watchman of the school and a resident of LE-37, Pipingew, Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet, at around midnight of said date, he inspected the school campus and noticed that all rooms were properly locked. At around 6:30 AM thereafter, he inspected again the area together with one of the English teachers, Agustin Dao-anis, and they noticed that the padlock of the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) office was cut prompting them to check inside and discovered that a lockers was forcibly opened and things inside were in disarray. Lucio reported the same to the police and also informed the ICT officer-n-charge identified as Christine Salleng Batani, 29, single, and they conducted inventory.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect took the following items: one (1) laptop described as Lenovo worth Php 17,000.00 owned by one of the teachers identified as Ms. Ronalyn Santiago Aloda; one (1) Coby brand laptop worth Php 39,976.95 government property issued to the said school; Samsung Cellular phone with undetermined value owned by one of the students; and a coin bank with more or less Php1,200.
Case is for follow-up investigation.
Pusher killed
The drug pusher was shot and died after exchanging fire with the police operative who acted as buyer Tuesday night at Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The suspect who was identified as Hilario Viduya Pineda opened fire at one of the police operatives of the Intelligence Branch of Benguet and Abra Provincial Police Office who was wearing a bullet proof vest after discovering that some of the money given to him were fake. The policeman retaliated and shot the suspect which caused his instantaneous death.
Recovered from the crime scene were: one Spring Field Armory caliber 45 pistol, four fired cartridge cases, five live ammunition, one colored brown camouflage sling bag containing cellular phone with sim card, six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance, six pieces one thousand peso bills of which three were fak, motorcycle used by the suspect and some of his belongings.
Pineda who was listed as one of the street level targets of the Directorate for Intelligence of the Philippine National Police and the list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was monitored to be operating in Abra, Baguio City, La Trinidad, and other places in Region 1.
When the suspect was still under18, he was arrested several times for engaging in various illegal activities such as theft and robbery. As a minor and without a home, Pineda was given shelter at the police station by the Women and Children Protection Desk of Baguio City Police Office and given education through the Alternative Learning System in the hope that he will change. But he escaped and went back to his illegal ways selling of illegal drugs.**
