Grave threat
An alleged threat transpired at about 1:45 AM of November 14, 2019 at Lamtang, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet and was reported to La Trinidad MPS at about 10:25 AM of same date. The complainant/victim was identified as Romeo Ucol De vera, 66 years old, married, newspaper vendor, native of Rosario, La Union and a resident of MA 69, Lamtang, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet while the suspects are still unidentified.
According to the victim, he was walking at Lamtang Road towards Naguilian Road to get a ride going to Baguio City when he passed by three men siphoning the diesel fuel of a truck parked beside the road. He directed his flash light towards the three suspects and one of them then pointed a short firearm to him and said, “Apay nga agsilasilaw ka?” They then instructed him to go inside a white van parked nearby and one of the suspects guarded him while his two companions continued the siphoning. When the suspects were done with the siphoning, they released the victim and then they left on board the said van with plate number D 943.
Accident due to driving under the influence
At about 9:10 AM on November 14, 2019, a phone call was received by Kiangan MP from Larry Tuguinay Castillo, 52, married, and a resident of Mabalante, Baguinge, Kiangan, Ifugao informing that a vehicle fell on a creek at Hahlin, Baguinge, Kiangan, Ifugao. Responding officers led by PLT COSME FLORES proceeded to the area and saw a white Mitsubishi Delica with plate number RBH 694 owned and driven by ANTHONY BABKEG CANTES, 52, married, Instructor at Ifugao State University (IFSU) Lamut, Ifugao and a resident of Mabbalat Poblacion, Kiangan Ifugao.
He was driving his vehicle going home to Kiangan, Ifugao, when he met a tricycle which he evaded but lost control of the steering wheell and fell into a four-meter deep creek. He was under the influence of liquor and was brought to Ifugao Provincial Hospital (IPHO), Lagawe, Ifugao as he sustained some minor injuries.
Theft
On November 13, 2019, at around 1:50 PM, a case of theft transpired inside Ernest Rosales Gen. Merchandise, Lakandula Center, Lower Gen. Luna Road, Baguio City wherein the victim was identified as Gloria Villaruz Rosario, 41, married, resident of No. 071 Purok Bakakeng Central, Marcos Highway, Baguio City. The suspects were later identified by police officers as Leah Datol Dawagan and Melanie Joy Datol Capatas, of legal ages, and residents of UP Cypress, Irisan, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that the victim went inside Ernest Rosales General Merchandise carrying her son to look for electric bulbs, when she was about to use her cellphone and found out that it was missing. Victim then requested the management to view the CCTV camera installed therein and it revealed the two female suspects sandwiched her and stole her cellphone kept in the outer pocket of her baby carrier described as Vivo V9, worth Php10, 000.00. The victim then reported the incident at Station 7 and police officers immediately went to verify the CCTV footages and revealed the identity of the suspects. The police officers then conducted a hot pursuit operation resulting in the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the cellphone.
The culprits are now in jail.**
