Reckless imprudence
A case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Physical Injuries and Damage to Properties transpired at about 12:45 AM of August 19, 2018 along Km 4 fronting Alapos Bar up to the Benguet State University.
Investigation disclosed that a northbound Mitsubishi Pajero with plate number BDW 646 driven by PO2 Gerald Galleo Galutan, 32, PNP member assigned at PS7, BCPO and a resident of Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet with no driver’s license bumped the two pedestrians identified as Jeffrey Bravante Ortin, 30, laborer, native and resident of Loakan, Baguio City and Orlando Mondero Galbey, 43, single, businessman, with address at KB 41, Samoyao, Cruz, La Trinidad, Benguet. Both were brought to Pines City Doctors Hospital of Baguio City.
The two victims were crossing the road when they were hit by the Mitsubishi Pajero. Thereafter, the said vehicle continued at speed until it bumped the rear portion of the parked police mobile car described as Toyota Hilux with plate number SJH 276 mobile 03 of La Trinidad MPS. The mobile car was pushed for about 50 meters until it hit a BENECO post. The involved vehicle continued to move at speed along Km 5 until it bumped the Cellphone Repair Shop. It still sped forward until it bumped the concrete wall of the Benguet State University where the Pajero stoppted.
The driver PO2 Galutan believed to be under the influence of liquor was brought to La Trinidad MPS. Case is being prepared for filing.
Seven fall in police operations
In a series of police operations, seven (7) individuals were arrested for various crimes last week.
Police arrested Dexter Balubar Gonzalez a.k.a. “Dondon”, Sanny Boy Gandeza Tulias a.k.a.”Bogs” and Mary Jane Buenafe Ambuyat a.k.a. “Myla/MJ” in Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra in the morning of August 17, 2018. Confiscated from their possession were six (6) heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money amounting to Php4,000.00 and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Likewise, the campaign against illegal gambling resulted in the arrest of a member of the “Dominga Illegal Gambling Group” operating in the municipalities of Tuba, Benguet, and Rosario, La Union, at Camp 4, Tuba Benguet on the night of August 19, 2018. Arrested was Alejandrino Ejanda Ejis, 62, a resident of Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet who was nabbed in the act of collecting bet money. Confiscated from his possession were jueteng papelitos, La Union STL ID, and bet money amounting to Php555.00.
In the accounting of loose firearms, two gun holders identified as Brucel Balweg, 18, and Brent Valentin, 20, both students were arrested in a checkpoint in Calanan, Tabuk City, Kalinga in the afternoon of August 17, 2018 after they failed to show pertinent documents to possess a caliber 5.56 homemade pistol loaded with one live ammunition.
Finally, the fight against illegal logging led to the arrest of a log transporter identified as Roneil Asbok Olsem, 31, a resident of Balinciagao, Pasil, Kalinga who was arrested in a checkpoint along Dumpsite, Bado Dangwa Tabuk City Kalinga in the morning of August 19, 2018. He was found transporting 17 pcs of 2x6x7 softwood with undetermined value loaded in a passenger jeepney which was seized after he failed to present pertinent documents to transport the same.
All arrested suspects and seized items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units. Appropriate charges were filed in court.
Qualified theft
At about 8:00 AM of August 20, 2018, an alleged theft transpired at the 6th floor of a Pent House, at Number 12, 2nd Road, Quezon Hill Proper, Baguio City. The incident was reported to BCPO-Stn. 1 at about 2:50 PM of August 23, 2018 by Paulyn Dela Cruz Castro, married, 47 y/o, lawyer by profession, through her husband Mr. Gil Cesario Pineda Castro, married, 44 y/o, PDEA Director, against a certain Janet/ Janeth Cadaba, female, single, 24 y/o, stay-in house maid, and resident of Magsaysay, Cordon, Isabela.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect was employed in the evening of August 13, 2018 and was left most of the time in the house to perform usual household chores. The complainant stated that on August 17 & 18, 2018, the suspect exhibited certain weird behavior and seemed nervous. Then in the afternoon of August 19, 2018 the suspect said that her mother wanted her to go home because she had been offered to work as a “Promo Diser” in the soap section of Robinson’s Department Store.
On August 20, 2018 the suspect hastily lleft giving several reasons for wanting to go home. Gil Castro then told his wife to check their personal belongings, and her wife did so on August 21 and on August 22, 2018 but did not find anything missing. On August 23, 2018 at about 8:00 AM, her husband asked to check a box inside their stock room where he put/placed all his vital documents. It was then that they found out that the following items were missing:
US Dollars, Chinese Wan, Thai Baht, Peruvian Sol, Korean Wan all consisting of various denominations with approximate total value of Php 50,000.00 placed inside a black wallet;
One (1) piece Silver Relic watch worth more or less Php 25,000.00;
One (1) piece Black Polo watch worth Php35,000.00; and
BDO personal Check with a face value of Php1,402,900.69 kept inside a sealed LBC plastic.
All the lost items were placed inside an ordinary plastic blue Orocan Box carefully placed underneath a receptacles in their stock room.
Responding personnel of BCPO-Stn. 1 processed the crime scene but were not able to lift latent print/s due to the humidity. The case is for direct filing by the complainant.**
