Accused in La Paz blast apprehended
One of the foremost achievements of the PRO-COR’s new Regional Director PCSupt. Rolando Nana in his first 100 days in office is a breakthrough in the grenade blast incident at La Paz, Abra last January 25, 2018. Two (2) policemen, including a former SAF survivor of the Mamasapano clash, were killed in said incident, while Abra Representative Joseph Sto Niño Bernos and his wife, Mayor Menchie Bernos, and 24 others were injured. The Abra Police Provincial Office filed cases of double murder and multiple frustrated murder against three (3) suspects two months later triggering manhunt operations.
On September 4, 2018 at around 1:50 PM, in sitio Kiwas, Barangay, Pulot, Lagayan, Abra, joint personnel of Lagayan MPS and Abra PMFC augmentation personnel led by PO3 Jimmy Villar, arrested Joel Millare Balucas, 45 years old, single, farmer, and a resident of said place. The subject was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for the crime of double murder with multiple attempted murder docketed as Criminal Case number 2018-138 issued by honorable Raphiel F Alzate, presiding judge, RTC branch 1, Bangued, Abra dated August 24, 2018 with no bail recommended. The arrested wanted person is in the custody of Lagayan MPS for documentation prior to turn over to the court concerned.
Balucas was supposed to have been arrested last December 13, 2017 for 3 counts of attempted homicide with the use of an unlicensed firearm but was able to post a bond of P180,000 for each count.
Theft
A case of theft transpired between 6:00 AM of August 24, 2018 to 12:00 NN of August 26, 2018 inside the 2nd floor of the Legislative Building, Bilibid Compound, Caluttit, Bontoc, Mtn. Province. At about 10:19 AM of August 31, 2018 Mauricio Pudsoc Pagedped, 38, married, Admin Aide (Job Order) of Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Mtn. Province presently residing at the Legislative Building, Bilibid Compound, Caluttit, Bontoc, Mtn. Province with permanent address at JB 164, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet went to Bontoc MPS and complained against Mary C. Pokpoken, 30, single and a resident of Can-eo, Bontoc, Mtn. Province for alleged theft. The complainant disclosed that at about 12:00 Noon of August 28, 2018 when he went home to his room located at the place of incident he noticed that the following items were missing:
a. assorted T-shirts;
b. Three (3) polo shirts;
c. One (1) uniform jacket colored yellow;
d. One (1) Jacket colored green;
e. Three (3) pairs Levis maong pants;
f. One (1) pair Giordano maong pants;
g. One (1) pair Wrangler pants;
h. One (1) pair Skechers brand colored gray;
i. One (1) right shoe Caterpillar brand colored blue and red;
j. One (1) right shoe Converse brand colored white black; and
k. One (1) travelling bag with label “Board Member League”.
Further, complainant revealed that on August 29, 2018 at about 2:52 PM, he received a text message from the alleged suspect saying that “Willing ak makulong uray makulong ak basta importante madama maian anod badum karayan” that prompted him to report the incident to Bontoc MPS.
Two motorcycle riding suspects nabbed
Two motorcycle riders were arrested in a checkpoint at Brgy., Patucanay, Bangued, Abra in the morning of August 31, 2018.
Joint operatives of Provincial Maneuver Force Company (PMFC) and Bangued MPS were conducting a checkpointoperation when they flagged down the suspects identified as Bonifacio Abuan Elvena, 27, a resident of Poblacion, Tayum, Abra; and Jomel Barbieto Molina, 23, a resident of Budac, Tayum, Abra.
During the checkpoint, one Colt MK IV Cal .45 Pistol with inserted magazine loaded with 7 live ammunition was confiscated from the possession of Elvena while one M1911 A1 Cal .45 pistol with inserted magazine loaded with 7 live ammunition was seized from Barbieto.
Both suspects were arrested after they failed to present pertinent documents to possess and carry the firearms.
Appropriate charges were filed against them in court.
Vehicular accident
On September 4, 2018, at about 5:40 PM, a vehicular traffic incident transpired at Sitio Macamcamamar, Poblacion, Sadanga, Mountain Province wherein a Mitsubishi pick-up with plate no. AHE 400 driven by Charlie Dangiwan Domao-il, 34, single, and a resident of Sacasacan, Sadanga, Mountain Province with 3 passengers fell in a 50 meter ravine..
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that while the vehicle was descending, the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell into the ravine. Students of Sangey National Technical Vocational School who discovered the incident relayed the information to Sadanga MPS and it was announced through the public addressing system installed at the police station that prompted the populace to respond. Responding PNP personnel, BFP and volunteers brought the occupants of the vehicle to Bontoc General Hospital but the driver was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) by the attending Physicain, Dr. Christine Ofilas. At around 8:45 PM of the same day Johnson Kawi Faroden, one of the passengers, was declared dead by the same physician. The other two passengers: Christian D. Copas was diagnosed with multiple injury due to vehicular accident and Faustino Balso was diagnosed with Hematoma bilateral, laceration orbital periorbital and laceration of lower extremities.**
