Gamblers and drug suspects nabbed, Php13.2M worth of MJ destroyed
Police arrested 13 individuals for illegal gambling and illegal drugs while Php13.2 million worth of dried marijuana were burned in Kibungan.
Eleven gamblers were separately arrested in anti –Illegal gambling operations conducted on April 21, 2020.
Gamblers identified as Laureano Bargas Vasquez; Romnick Navarro Laureta; Abel Donato Patalay were held in Zone 4, Bangued Abra, thirty minutes after the arrest of four female gamblers– Christina Navarro Laureta, Trixie Navarro Amoyo, Yzabell Bargas Satella, and Marie Cris Bilgera Apuya– in the same place. Along with their arrest is the confiscation of one set majong tiles, one deck of playing cards and bet money amounting to Php1,025.00.
Also in the province of Abra, particularly at Barbero Heights, Zone 7, Bangued, four other gamblers were caught while in the act of playing cards. They were identified as Valerio Belisario Balubar; Rowell Baldemor Bragas; Romeo Paz Pico and Joel Barbosa Puruganan. Two sets of playing cards and bet money amounting to Php1,205.00 were confiscated during the operation.
On the other hand, Php13.2 million worth of illegal drugs were destroyed while two drug suspects were arrested during the anti-illegal drugs operations conducted last Sunday, April 19, 2020. Operatives burned Php3.2 million worth of marijuana plants in Sitio Ganga, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet which they uprooted on site. Aside from the marijuana plants, they discovered ten (10) sacks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks weighing 110 kilograms. Only samples were taken for qualitative examination.
Meanwhile, a high-value individual (HVI) Eric Laurian Tiangga, 33, a native of Bakun, Benguet, and resident of Windy Hill, Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet was captured in Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet in a buy-bust operation on the afternoon of April 21, 2020. Another drug personality, Jason Vida Alejandro, was arrested for possession of illegal drugs when he was cornered along the intersection of Balsigan and Palispis Highway, Baguio City on the evening of the same day.
Confiscated evidence from Tiangga was one sachet of suspected shabu, Php3,500.00 boodle money, and one (1) Motorola touch screen cellular phone, while three (3) transparent plastic sachets containing suspected dried marijuana leaves were taken from Alejandro.**
