Cordillera cops arrest rape suspect in Pangasinan
A man facing three cases of rape was arrested by combined police operatives in his hideout in Barangay Lilimasan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan around 12: 30 PM Thursday.
The arrested was identified as Pepito Mabitazan aka Pepito Mapintasan, 72 years old. He was the primary suspect in the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old, female sometime in 2018 in Baguio City. He was arrested thru manhunt operations conducted by joint personnel of Baguio City Police Office (Police Station 1, 4, and 5); Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) -Baguio; Intelligence Unit of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO); Regional Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR); Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-14 and RIU-1 of PNP-IG; CIDG CFU CAR; and San Carlos City Police Station (CPO) of Pangasinan PPO.
His arrest was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ivan Kim B. Morales of RTC, Branch 59 (Additional Family Court), Baguio City for statutory rape in criminal cases numbered 42020-R, 42021-R and 42022-R with no recommended bail.
Mabitazan was brought to San Carlos CPS of Pangasinan PPO and Police Station 4, BCPO for proper documentation, prior to his turn-over to the issuing court of the warrant..
11 persons arrested for illegal gambling and drugs
Eleven individuals charged for violation of special laws were arrested during the conduct of intensified campaign against illegal gambling and illegal drugs.
In separate police operations conducted, 10 were apprehended in the act of engaging in “pusoy” and cockfighting activities.
Gamblers Marcos Ayaman Ogues and Johnie Allan Kiw-an were nabbed at Lower Poblacion, Sablan, Benguet last Tuesday of May 12, 2020 that also led in the confiscation of one set of playing cards and Php1,300.00 bet money.
Subsequently, other offenders were caught on May 9– Ireneo Regaton Dumayas in Appas, Tabuk City, Kalinga, while Vivian L. Luminio; Jacquelyn V. Acosta; Myrna B. Frias; Sherwin B. Simeon; Lea S. Alvarez; and Antonio G. Luminio were apprehended in the house of Luminio in Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga. Along with their arrest were the confiscation of evidence listed as bet money amounting to Php1,545.00 and two (2) sets of playing cards.
Further, Ryan Lobrino Vasquez was caught in the act of engaging in illegal cockfighting in Brgy Calaba South, Bangued Abra on the afternoon of May 8, that led to the confiscation of one (1) dead fighting cock with blade.
Aside from the arrest of the gambling offenders, female drug offender Normina Ebrahim Baic aka “Nicole” was apprehended after she sold 5 small sachets of suspected “shabu” to a poseur buyer in Barangay Longlong, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet on the afternoon of May 9. Confiscated from her were one cellular phone and the buy bust money.
Kalinga and Benguet Top Most Wanted Person fall
Once again, Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) scored anew in the campaign against wanted persons after arresting Top Most Wanted Persons (TMWP) charged for criminal acts s in Kalinga and Benguet.
After almost 10 months of continuous surveillance, the No. 9 TMWP for the 2nd Quarter of CY 2020 of Kalinga province finally landed in jail after he was captured on the afternoon of May 1, 2020 in Bayabat, Dilag, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
OIC-Provincial Director Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong, identified the arrested suspect as Abraham Gunnawa y Laguitao, 30, farmer and a resident of Tuliao, Calanan, Tabuk City. Abraham was charged for the crime of Homicide and Violation of Presidential Decree 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) with a recommended bail bond of Php120,000.00 each.
It can be recalled that victims Clinton Lao-ang Serquina (who died upon arrival in the hospital), Ronie Antolin Serquina and Ranny Antolin Serquina were hacked in Tuliao, Calanan, Tabuk City, Kalinga on the afternoon of July 15, 2019 by the suspects identified as Abraham Gunnawa who was recently arrested, Lino Gunnawa aka Payason, who was also arrested on March 9 this year, while Gonzales Gunnawa and Rexam Gunnawa aka Eyadan were captured on July 15 last year. The alleged motive was due to a family feud.
The successful arrest of Gunnawa was made after the implementation of a warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Jerson E. Angog, Presiding Judge, RTC, 2nd Judicial Region, Branch 25, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Meanwhile, the suspect in a rape case, tagged as the No. 1 TMWP in the province of Benguet for the first quarter of 2019 was eventually arrested in Ampasit, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet on the evening of May 4, 2020.
Provincial Director Colonel Elmer Ragay, identified the arrested as Jhony Manman Abance, 31, farmer, and a boarder at Ampasit, Puguis La Trinidad, Benguet. Abance was charged for three counts of Rape after he raped a 16 year old student inside his boarding house on October 19, 2018.
Abance’s warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Marietta S. Brawner-Cualing, presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 9, Family Court for Benguet Province, La Trinidad Benguet.**
