5 nabbed over tong-its in Bangued Abra
Five individuals were caught in the act of playing “tong-its” in Linasin Zone 1, Bangued, Abra on May 27, 2021.
An anti-illegal gambling operation was conducted by joint operatives of the CIDG, Bangued MPS and Abra PPO following a report by a concerned citizen about an ongoing gambling activity in the said place. The operation resulted in the arrest of one operator identified as Nora Balderas Baniago, 49, and four bettors namely, Marilou Sison Martinez, 41, Rogie Sales Queza, 46, Efren Albarade Tejero, 52, and Reynaldo Cristobal Batallones, 41.
Operatives seized from them bet money in different denominations and two decks of playing cards. Arrested suspects were brought to CIDG Abra for documentation before being turned over to Bangued MPS for appropriate charges to be filed against them.
Further, according to Bangued MPS, the intensive information drive thru different police and community engagements has positively affected the residents as they have been actively supporting the anti-criminality campaign by reporting illegal activities in their communities.
3 former NPAs surrender
A more peaceful and meaningful life awaits the three Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members from Abra and Ifugao who voluntarily returned to the folds of law on May 27 -28, 2021.
In Ifugao, a 54-year old farmer known as “Puhlek” who is listed as No. 5 in PROCOR’s Periodic Status Report on the Threat Group and a full-time NPA in the Barrio (MB) under Casimiro Binayon @ Peter of the dismantled Nona Del Rosario Command, voluntarily surrendered after a series of dialogues with Ifugao Police and the 54th IB, 5th ID of the Philippine Army.
Said surrenderer also turned over a Cal. 357 with two live ammunition, after which he was brought to the Second Ifugao PMFC for debriefing and proper documentation.
In Abra, two members of the NPA in the Barrio (MB), alyas “Bonnie”, 63, and alyas “Warden”, 65, voluntarily surrendered to the operatives of Abra PPO and 24th IB, 7th ID of the Philippine Army in Manabo, and Sallapadan, Abra, respectively.
“Bonnie” turned over a home-made 12-gauge firearm without serial number to the operatives and now undergoing documentation and interview at Manabo MPS while “Warden” was turned over to Sallapadan MPS.
All surrenderers will avail of the “Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program” (E-CLIP) where they will be holistically trained and processed to prepare them for their reintegration to the community and will be receiving livelihood programs and cash aid from the government.
P13.4-M eradicated in Kalinga
Four marijuana plantation sites were raided in the mountains of Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga which led to the eradication of P13.4 million worth of marijuana plants on May 28, 2021.
Reports state that the anti-illegal drug operation stemmed from intelligence reports gathered by intel operatives about the presence of the prohibited plant in the area.
With the joint efforts of the Regional Intelligence Division, RMFB15 and Kalinga PPO, an estimated 67,320 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 13,464,000.00 were destroyed. These were discovered from four plant sites, having a total of 6,900 square meters land area.
