Mayor Benjamin Magalong convenes members of the city’s disaster response teams yesterday, 18 November 2024 for a debriefing following the onslaught of super typhoon Pepito last Nov. 17, 2024.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Engr. Charles Carame said no major incident was encountered even as the howler briefly hammered the city with intense rains and winds. There were however minor incidents such as five soil erosions, three electrical concerns, and seven fallen/leaning/burning trees.
To improve preemptive evacuation procedures, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Liza Daisa Bulayungan recommended that all barangays acquire modular tents and community kitchen facilities for residents who will seek shelter.
The OCSWDO said a total of 49 families were evacuated at the CDRRMO and other barangay evacuation centers while 25 families stayed in their relatives’ homes.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong commended all the teams for their swift action in responding to all incidents reported including the barangay disaster risk reduction management committees BDRRMC led by punong barangays and kagawads who manned their own areas of responsibility..
