Bontoc, Mountain Province – The Sangguniang Bayan has passed an ordinance regulating the live weight prices of hogs, pork and beef products sold in the municipality.
Authored by Sangguniang Bayan Member Julian Chumacog who chairs the Committee on Market, Ordinance No. 366, S. 2022 was passed by the council in an effort to promote the general welfare by regulating and fixing the maximum prices of hogs, pork, and beef products.
Under the ordinance, hogs/pigs are to be sold at 200.00 per kilo while the prices of pork per kilo are as follows: Lean meat – 300.00 Pork Belly – 300.00 Pork Chop – 280.00 Ribs/Bones with flesh (Alas-as) – 270.00 Legs, Head, and Internal Organs – 250.00.
Meanwhile, the prices of beef per kilo are as follows: Lean Meat – 350.00 Soup Bones (Legs, Ribs) – 320.00 Head- 320.00 Internal Organs – 350.00 Skin – 200.00 Further, all meat vendors are mandated to post or display a price list or price tag of their meat products in their respective stalls/booths/establishments.
Violators of the said ordinance shall pay a fine of 1,000.00 for the first offense and 1,500.00 for the second offense while third and succeeding offenses will result in cancellation of Business Permit and a fine of 2,500.00.
Acknowledging and supporting the SB’s objective which is to promote general welfare, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has passed Resolution No. 2023-015 which further approves the said municipal ordinance. ** Christy Mae Che-es, Bontoc LGU
