Moving quick and efficiently are both what we expect of our government. To walk into public institutions and expect the best. It is the reason why people pay their taxes, that they may expect the services around them, at the very least, to be in working order and help them in their times of need. Who wouldve expected, that among the decaying public services, inefficient bureaucracy, and the countless delays to receiving help from our own government, they have shown sharp focus and efficient management, only in helping one of their own escape accountability.
It wasnt too long ago that a person waiting in line for their “ayuda” amidst the oil crisis died. Under the sweltering sun, the already battered drivers were made to wait for countless hours. Hearing from the drivers that we knew, the people in charge were even hesitant and so picky about giving away the meager cash provided. As if they were giving away an amount that could cover the drivers expenses for even a week.
Every time we go home, we always pass through Marcos Highway. From last year, a certain portion of the highway in Badiwan, was under construction. After all this time, the portion continues to be a hindrance for vehicles. Portions of the road remain closed and up till now, the end is still far from near seeing as there are little to no workers nor equipment to be seen on the daily.
Amongst this evidence of government complacency, they have shown focus only on helping one of their own, not their own constituents. Just how fast they moved and organized for Senator Bato to make it in time to help with the coup and escape in time.
Whatever happened to our leaders priorities is a mystery. Millions are in desperate need of their attention and focus. Yet they focus on the most vile and irrational subjects. There is only clinging to power in their heads. That has been made all the more clear after the events at the senate.
A red mark should already be painted over their heads. To all who took part in the theatrics, they dont deserve to receive the peoples votes or prayers. Get them all out. We can all stop convincing ourselves that these power-hungry officials care for the welfare of the people. That they are at the slightest bit godly or decent people.
Come election season, let these events be repeated in our heads. That we remind ourselves these people do not serve, they wish to rule and remain at the top. They do not consider themselves beneath the people but their masters.
