BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — The provincial government unit of Mountain Province recognized the longevity of six of its senior citizens for reaching the milestone age of 100 years old.
The centenarians are Yangan D. Mariano from Banao, Bauko(March 12, 1924); Rufina B. Acyapat from Maba-ay, Bauko (Feb. 28, 1925); Galvina G. Tulingan from Monamon Norte, Bauko(Oct. 15, 1924); Carmen K. Chinalpan from Samoki, Bontoc and Nicolas F. Carlos from Maligcong, Bontoc, (March 25, 1925); and Ligawen G. Tarapen from Poblacion, Sadanga(March 14, 1925).
These individuals were confirmed as centenarians by the Provincial Centenarian Committee and the Committee on Women, Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, and Family Relations.
The provincial government honored them with cash gift of ?50,000 each, birthday cakes and certificate of recognition from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
A team from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Governor’s Office, Provincial Treasury Office, and Senior Citizen Coordinator delivered the incentives to the different municipalities, and was assisted by local government staff in the distribution on April 15 and 16.
The centenarians attributed their longevity to a healthy lifestyle particularly a diet rich in leafy vegetables, which they consume daily.
They are also expected to receive P100,000 cash gift from the national government and a letter of felicitation from the President as provided for under Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016. **JDP/CGAS-PIA CAR, Mountain Province
