Bontoc, Mountain Province- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in coordination with the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) awarded cheques to the beneficiaries of OWWA’s Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) Program.
The program aims to provide immediate relief to returning Oversees Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are either distressed or displaced by giving them a startup capital for business or livelihood project.
Labor Employment Officer III Jenelyn Caluza who is also the Migrant Desk Officer (MDO) of LGU Bontoc, mentioned that active members will receive 20,000 pesos each while inactive members with two or more contributions will receive 10,000. Meanwhile, inactive members with one contribution will receive 5,000.
BPBH beneficiaries, Golda Atiw-an and Emily Ann Bignalen, personally received their cheques amounting to 20,000.
In a separate interview, Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., extended his gratitude to the OWWA for their programs to facilitate the OFWs’ reintegration into our local community.
“I encourage you to take full advantage of the support available and embrace the opportunities that await you here at home. Your experiences and skills acquired abroad are invaluable assets that can contribute significantly to the growth and development of our community,” he added
