CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) — Eleven employers in Tabuk City that were remiss in paying their contributions to the Social Security System (SSS) were visited by the agency’s Tuguegarao Branch to remind them to fulfill their legal obligations.
This is part of the SSS’s nationwide Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign to ensure that employers are complying with Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.
Said employers owe a combined total of over P3.2 million in contributions and penalties, with a total of 67 affected employees.
They were served with an order to settle their obligations within 15 days or face legal consequences. They were also informed of their payment options including availing of the Contribution Penalty Condonation, Delinquency Management, and Restructuring Program.
SSS-Tuguegarao branch head Guadalupe D. Castillo who led the activity, emphasized that the campaign primarily aims to remind employers of their obligations under the law and to encourage them to seek assistance to settle their delinquencies.
“It aims to raise awareness sa mga employers and the public na ang SSS is very strict when it comes to payments for the employees, that’s why we visit them to inform them na meron din tayong relief program para makapag-avail din sila,” Castillo said.
“Partners din kasi natin ang mga employers. Hindi naman sa tinatakot natin sila dahil as a group tayo pumupunta, [but it’s] for info dissemination na andito ang SSS pumupunta sa inyo to visit you para maging aware kayo,” she added.
As a result of the activity, two of the 11 employers have made full payment of contributions and penalties amounting to more than P100,000.
This is the second RACE operation conducted in Tabuk City. The first one held in March pursued nine employers, three of whom have since made full or partial payment while three others have been approved for installment payment, according to Castillo.
Castillo assured that they will continually conduct RACE operations to encourage compliance among employers and ensure that employees will get the benefits of the social insurance program. **IOS-PIA Kalinga
