We all love a little bit of change when the new year comes, after all without change and improvement we would not be here at this point in our lives. Promises to ourselves are made. Just like the ones in the past that have made a huge impact for our future. For some, an oath to take better care of their bodies. While others swear to fight against their own addictions.
Though it is an uphill battle to cut down on weight, with all that is placed on the table. So we do what we did last year and just postpone it to next year.
A new year welcomes us all with gin or other kinds of alcohol on the table. And our smiles get bigger and bigger as the night passes to the new day. We all need a time of smiling, especially when we have moments we would like to put behind us. And a new year presents to all new opportunities to leave behind the old versions of us and just move on.
The burden of regrets and mistakes on the back of our minds can be suffocating. Tiring to a soul when it is carried all year long. And we all long for that affirmation that even among our mistakes that can fill the sea, there is one good thing we did right and it floats above them like an island of paradise. The one thing we can be proud of. Then we can all say that the past year was not for naught.
We can all choose to see the mistakes a person has because frankly we have so much of them. Yet in this time where everyone is making promises to themselves, it wouldn’t hurt to see and appreciate the small things they had already done in order to improve and better themselves. Congratulate others because for all they accomplished the past year. And celebrate this life which had been a witness once more to the 1st day of a new year.
The road ahead stretches out as long as it had always been. Though we have certainly moved forward. The journey continues and some institutions are a bit too eager to get the ball rolling, especially for some schools designating the first day of classes early in cold January.
Though some are more fortunate than others that exams are not waiting for them in the first month of a new year when a cold month is upon us.
We wave back to all the challenges down the road to start off a new year. Starting off with love to others around us is the only way to go. Start off with what we already know and what we can give anytime of the year.
We can always help those around us who made their own promises for the new year, instead of putting them down immediately and rooting against them. Supporting others is a sure thing to start off the year for you and others on a good note.
It may not always be how we start but how we finish, but a good start is better than giving up at the starting line.
