BAGUIO CITY — About 300 drug surrenderees in the city of Baguio joined the Recovery Walk from Dontogan to La Presa, Friday, Nov. 25.
The said endeavor aims to encourage persons with substance use disorder together with their families to be physically fit and to have a healthy lifestyle..
The Recovery Walk is part of the city’s celebration of the 24th National Children’s Month.
City social welfare and development officer Betty Fangasan stressed that some of those Baguio are in the process of transformation and are presently undergoing series of psycho-education sessions and are engaged in a spiritual program with activities every week at the CSWD office.
“The city government here has livelihood programs that can help the surrenderees, however, they (surrenderees) must have to undergo first the recovery process before they can avail of these,” said Fangasan.
Moreover, with the continuing war against drugs in the city, the CSWDO together with the Baguio City Police Office and the Serenity in the Steps have the Baguio Emergency Response to Addiction (BERA).
“A total of 275 drug related surrenderees have finished the series of psycho-education sessions and are looking forward to a brighter future through the help of the government’s livelihood programs,” said Fangasan.
