You live long enough on this earth, you come to learn what type of people you get along with and those you must avoid at all cost. School is a great place to learn this. Surrounded by different sorts of people, you learn about the different nasty personalities and also about yourself. Being exposed to something diffferent will naturally guide you to what you really want.
In elementary, I was able to find people who put my mind at ease just by being around them. Because I always knew they would not judge me for anything I do. This remains the case in college. Like others around me, we have all but perfected this skill to pick out the people we get along with. And we all but spend most of our time with them. After all, time is a precious thing for a student and it is better spent with people you get along with naturally.
Finding these people you are compatible with may not always be short and direct as you would expect, but we all know the feeling when we talk with someone cut from the same cloth. When you find them you just know it instantly. Whether you click with them or just fall flat.
Since I always tried to be in different sections with my minor subjects at school, it was through finding these people that made it easier to adjust to new sets of classmates every year in my minor subjects. Some of the people of whom I have spent the most joy with in a semester came from these classes that I only spent a semester in.
Now that exams are on the horizon and many deadlines are arriving in quick succession, the minds of most students are in a jumble. There is also studying that needs to be done after all.
Thankfully, I was lucky enough again to find someone that can put my mind at ease, just like those goofy kids back in highschool. Someone I know will not judge me and we, just being able to be ourselves among each other.
In this moment where most students are thinking of deadlines and exams, it’s also important to just not think at all and be yourself instead, among companies who put your head and heart at ease. In the long run where we will inevitably have moments where we are tired beyond what tired is, the people around us must not also contribute to our stress, but be like a sponge that saps away all the negativities inside us.
Surrounding ourselves with the right people that calm us and not make us nervous can only help us in a race where we often can’t even see the finish line.**
