“Every Filipino child matters and it is high time that we work as one to eradicate any form of abuse, violence, exploitation or anything that will negatively impact them.”
Thus, declared City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) officer-in-charge Cynthia Langagan at the launching of the city’s 31st National Children’s Month celebration during flag-raising rites at City Hall, Nov. 6, with local officials led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
‘Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all!’ is this year’s chosen theme.
She pointed out that as government workers and stewards of the law, it is pivotal for the betterment of the next generation to ensure that children’s rights to survival, development, protection and participation are upheld in every corner of society.
Langagan stressed that policies, programs and mechanisms that will ensure the total well-being, welfare and rights of every child in the city should continue to be expanded, accelerated and sustained.
“As we kick-off National Children’s Month, we are reminded of the value of promoting children’s welfare. It is our dream to see them happily attending school, playing with their friends, being healthy, and having dreams of helping their family and community when they grow up,” she said.
“Together, let us all be agents of change and make a difference in the lives of our children,” Langagan exhorted.**Gaby B. Keith
