Tabuk City Kalinga – Students from Tabuk City National High School will represent the country at the World Robotics in China in April 2023. The group RoboTANAStics, Ceasar Ace Malannag, Clarence Sunday Rodriguez and Jeanzhen C. Gayagay, all Grade 10 Carnelian, together with their coaches, Engr. Paul Quines, Engr. Elizer Vallderama, and Computer Programmer Chester Bawagan, all mentors of the same school grabbed the 1st rank during the 2nd National Creotic Make X Robotics Competition, held at Vista Mall, Sta Rosa Laguna Philippines last December 10, 2022.
“ It was a whirlwind experience ,” coach Paul Francis Quines exclaimed, “ We thought we won’t be able to make it as we landed 16th out of 32 contenders on the first round, there were glitches on the codes that needed to be repaired but we pulled it off. ”
The game was played in 2 rounds and each team was required to pick their allies from the contenders, to which the team recalled, “At first no one wanted to be our allies, we picked thrice as the first and second choices we chose rejected us to be their partner but thanks to the Pampanga High School Neoknights they accepted us to be our teammates.”
Ceasar Ace Realce Malannag, the only child of Mayor Almar Malannag of Balbalan shared his experience to be exciting, asked if he plays Mobile Legend as any teenager now plays, “I play Valorant and it helped me in ways to communicate and understand more of what we are doing.”
Clarence Sunday I. Rodriguez, the son of Jerry M. Rodriguez and Grail Melody Iyadan Rodriguez, “I was so overwhelmed because it’s our first time to join and we won!”
“The last and second round, which is the manual mission, made us more tense as time was our enemy, our goal was to bring the biggest ball to its goal, we did our best to control the robot to bring the ball to its goal line, and we were able to execute it,” they excitedly recalled.
The group who’s getting ready for the World Robotics Championship in China in April 2023 said they need to practice and review more of the programs for them to gain more knowledge and background.
The three students belong to the Science Technology Engineering section, and have been consistent in the honor roll since Grade 7. Asked what they want to be in the future, Jeanzhen Gayagay said he wanted to become a pilot, Ace and Sunday were not sure if becoming engineers but they both love to invent and innovate. ** Margaret Hazel A.
