TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Tabuk City Tourism Officer-designate Arlene Odiem was the lone honoree from Kalinga during the Regional Recognition Rites of Outstanding Employees, Achievers and Agency Partners of the Civil Service Commission held at the Department of Education regional offices in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet on September 22, 2017.
She and Imelda Village, Baguio City Barangay Captain Arturo Rapelo, Jr. are this year’s individual winners for the CSC Pagasa Award for the Cordillera.
The CSC Pagasa Award is given to individuals or groups of individuals for any outstanding contribution that directly benefit more than one department of the government. It is one of the three categories of the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees under the CSC’s Honor Awards Program.
Odiem was nominated for the award by Tabuk City Human Resource Management Officer Jephte Feken based on her accomplishments and awards won as tourism officer of the city.
Feken said that among other awards, Odiem received the following from the Department of Tourism (DOT): Most Outstanding City Tourism Officer in the Philippines, Citation as Best Rural Based Tourism Campain Award, Grand Champion, Best Tourism Sports Event for the National Night Motocross Invitational and Finalist for Best World Tourism Month.
In her statement, Odiem stated it was a special honor and privilege to be nominated for the CSC Pagasa Award.
“Being a CSC Outstandng Employee Regional Winner is not anymore about me but a reflection of how the Tabuk CLGU officials and employees work hard in giving quality services with commitment to the constituents/clients,” she said.
The other Cordillera winners for the CSC Awards are the following: the men and women of the Tuba Fire Station for the Presidential Lingkod Bayan (Group); Marcelo Otinguey-Master Teacher 1 , DepEd Benguet Division, Presidential Lingkod Bayan (Individual); April Rose Ayangwa, Jail Warden-BJMP Baguio City and Yoshio P. Labi, LDRRMO III, LGU La Trinidad, Benguet, Dangal ng Bayan Awardees.
A team of 10 from the Tabuk City Agriculturist’s Office led by then City Agriculturist Gilbert Cawis were among the national winners of the Pagasa Award group category in 2013 for the “successful implementation of the team’s programs on rice, corn, coffee and cacao production, vegetable gardening, and fisheries generated employment and widened market opportunities, maximized use of land and resources, widened production areas and agricultural alternatives, promoted organically grown vegetables for better health and environment, and enhanced diversity and ecological balance.”**By Edward Joseph Gacuya/City Information Officer
