BAGUIO CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region in partnership with public and private technical vocational institutions conducted a Regional Skills Competition last August 15 to 17 in separate venues in the city.
The trade areas included cooking, restaurant services, IT software solutions for business, graphics design, web design and welding.
Regional winners will compete in the Philippine National Skills Competition this November. Those who win in the national level will represent the country in the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in Bangkok, Thailand, next year.
The skills competition is a friendly activity among partners and stakeholders of the Technical Vocational Education and Training sector. This involves young workers from industry, enterprises, students, trainees and graduates of technical vocational schools, higher education institutions, and state universities and colleges in the different trade areas or qualifications.
One of the annual event’s objectives is to promote the development of quality vocational/technical and work values among the youth and skilled workers.**gaby keith
