Technical Education and Skills Development Committee or TESDA has been pushing Agri-tourism as one of the new programs for the people of the Cordillera.
From their data, many Cordillerans have been going to TESDA to enroll in technical courses.
Technical Education and Skills Development Committee Chairperson, Attorney Betty Lourdes Tabanda, also stressed that agricultural tourism needs to be promoted within Cordillera.
“Right now, we are particularly zeroing in on this because right now, many of the youths of today don’t want to enroll in agriculture and would rather enroll in technical courses. But we are trying to show also a viable future in this. You can actually ger rich.”
She also added that in order for their plan to be successful, responsible agencies should support it.
For example, TESDA provides the training, DTI provides the startup capital and the training for the entrepreneurship and we also have members from the private sectors that help in finding employees from among the graduates from the different technical vocational courses.”
TESDA-CAR Regional Director Efren Piñol, also admitted that many wanted the techvoc courses in the region. Even though that’s the case, he mentioned that there is a big chance that their plan would succeed.
“Cordillera has many potentials for agriculture at the same time tourism. We also can invite tourists. “
He assured that through the Build, Build, Build Program of the present administration, the TESDA graduates will be able to acquire a job in the country so that they will not have to go to other countries for a job.
“We need to cater as to the need of our skilled workers, so in totality, we do not need to export because nowadays, there are many investors who want to invest here and engage to our program or the administration’s program.”
