I woke up quite late this morning. I opened my eyes and, my god! It was already 6:12 a.m. Yes, shit! I was supposed to wake up at 4:00 a.m. when the world was still asleep and silent so I could have a deep meditation (deep prayers, if you will) for about an hour or two. That would leave me plenty of time to finish doing a respectable number of yoga exercises
I focused my eyes further so I could read the screen of my cellphone and the first thing I read was, the first Filipino president of the University of the Philippines was from the Cordillera, particularly from Abra. Remember that UP was put up by the Americans along with Easter School (now Easter College, Inc.) and Brent School, So its first presidents were Americans.
That intrigued me but I had to do first my yoga regimen of physical exercises to help my body recover from the morbidities I am currently suffering from.
To repeat, I checked the time on my cellphone and, shit!, it was already 6:12 a.m. And it was damn cold! Luckily, I was able to wake up earlier at 4:00 a.m., and I was able to do some serious yoga meditation for about an hour. But then again that has to go with regular yoga physical exercises to keep the body in top form. Otherwise, deep meditation which requires deep concentration would be difficult to attain or achieve.
With my yoga meditation done that lasted for about an hour, all I had to do this morning was to do my yoga physical regimen. At 6:12 I thought I had enough time to accomplish that. So, hurriedly, I did about 5 yoga exercises which took me 15 minutes. Good! There was still about 20 minutes to have a small break fast before the cab arrives to take me and the family to the office. Remember it is Friday today. Our press day or our day to come up with the weekly issue of this paper.
And today is the day I am supposed to try to start working again. So here I am undertaking another serious effort of picking up the pieces of my life.
As I started writing this piece, the first obstacle immediately made itself felt, clearly! My typing skills are now so off key. If I were an old journalist using a typewriter, it was unable to sing or come up with a melodious sound. It was so off key or out of tune due to hesitating fingers and their inability to hit the right keys or letters. A good number of keys of letters in the keyboard seem to have been transferred to other places. Well, a number of my fingers needed a good deal of familiarizing themselves again on where the right keys were. Expectedly, after a year of being sick of this and that.
The more important question is, do I have enough energy to last a whole day of work of typing. Or even just half a day or 1/3 of a day of office work? Well, I already did 1/3 of a day of typing and what I came up with is just a lot of gibberish of what should have an article.
The bottom line is, here I am trying to start again. Whatever small thing I have accomplished can be improved on.
At least I am now on the road of a new beginning. Though slowly ……. I have to say, let’s go!**
