By Atty. Antonio P. Pekas

Back in college, there was this guy who came a year or two after us. He had relatively thick eye glasses. I knew right away he was somebody to watch. He must be very intelligent, I thought, and he turned out to be so.
A successful businessman he became. As life would have it, we parted ways. Decades later, we met again. I asked his birthday. He gave it. Now I know him a lot better.
When I peeked at the planets in his astrological chart, what struck me was the prominent Capricorn energy.
Capricorn is the sign of the top executive. Meticulous and hard working. He will give of himself whatever the situation requires. Keeping his nose to the grindstone, going through all-nighters, or braving scary typhoons he will do until the goal is achieved. In short, he has the determination, the energy and stamina to see things through.
With such qualities, he can run any business or enterprise or any organization for that matter, and it would succeed.
Such people can be too serious about things. And they can be boring, but not this guy. For another readily spotted part of his astro chart is the Sagittarius energy. The sense of humor emanates from that. Also the love to travel, or of foreign places and ideas, philosophy and other high ideas.
Sagittarius is symbolized by the centaur. A man with a bow and arrow whose lower body is a horse. He would shoot his arrow into the air and then gallops into the horizon to catch the arrow. Then shoots it again then gallops again to go and catch it. He is an adventurer. Positive attitude? That would be an understatement. He is ultra positive. He is hope personified.
I know that deep within him is etched the idea of expanding his business into foreign lands. If he had not already. He will keep on going places. Chasing the arrow and whatever.
But he is not just about business and high fallutin ideas. For his Aquarius energy is also quite stark. His battle cry is liberte, egalite, fraternite. Rings a bell? Yes, that was the battle cry of the French revolution that happened at the same time Uranus—the ruler of Aquarius—was discovered. Indeed, nothing is an accident. Everything is an incident. Therein lies the activist in him.
So, revolution?
Aquarius is a fixed sign. What it symbolizes will always be there in the person.
That astro sign is also the symbol of silver. No wonder he was into the silver jewelry business. No accident. Likewise, his having married into a family that was into that business from where he might have learned.
So how in hell did he end up in the College of Forestry to study and where we met? His moon in his astro chart is in Taurus, the symbol of agriculture and forestry. The moon is memory. Somewhere in the distant past, he must have been there, at Los Banos. Have we met there, somewhere in the distant past?
