TADIAN, Mtn Province – The Provincial Tourism Office and the municipal local government unit together with the provincial field office of the Department of Labor and Employment turned over equipment worth Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (P500,000.00) to an organization engaged in tourism activities for the SuLuMaBaBaDu cluster of this municipality last August 4, 2022 at the Suluma Barangay Hall, Tadian.
Apollo Luspian, provincial director of the Department of Labor and Employment here, Roger Sacyaten of the Provincial Tourism Office, and Lynber Micklay of the Municipal Tourism Office turned over the equipment and gadgets to the Hoyohoy Mountain Province Mountaineering and Environmental Initiatives, Inc.(HMPMEII) headed by Welbur Botilas.
The equipment and gadgets are first kit backpacks, LED Head Lamps, two way radios, safety helmets,survival whistles,rock climbing and body harness, tents, desk top computer with printer, ropes, life jackets, life vests, etc.
Luspian informed that the DOLE granted the funds with a 20% counterpart from the Tadian LGU. In two years time, the equipment and gadgets will be donated to the organization.
“Use the equipment and gadgets well as agencies of government like the COA and MPSPC will be auditing and assessing you as we have entered into a MOA with them.”
He also said that the gadgets will help in the tourism industry in the place.
Welbur Botilas expressed his gratefulness, in behalf of the organization. He further said that other barangays may borrow the equipment and gadgets if they need them.
Richard Wong, the acknowledged adviser-consultant of the organization and who had been frequenting government offices for assistance said that granted devices serve as “puonan” of the organization. He was also responsible in ensuring that the devices are of the good quality.
He relayed that Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan had prodded the group to help build up tourism in the area.
It is to be noted that the barangays host tourism attractions like the enticing river, the Ub-ubunan water falls, the exciting mountains as Mt. Bangkilat, the Binaybay ni Kabunian, etc. that can be trekked and explored.
MEANWHILE, a Basic Tourism Awareness seminar cum orientation on tourism was conducted for the members of the organization and the barangay officials of barangays Suluma, Masla, Batayan, Bantey, and Duagan.
It was facilitated by the staff of the Provincial Tourism Office and with the assistance of Lynber Micklay of the Municipal Tourism Office who shared the municipal tourism situationer of Tadian.
“With the opening of tourism, this orientation and the crafting of rules and regulations governing the entry of tourists are of prime consideration” speakers pointed out.
Others in attendance were the members of the organization and barangay officials headed by Suluma Barangay Captain Arthur Lomino, Masla Barangay Captain Randy Hermosora, Bantey Barangay Captain Jose Gaudan, Batayan Barangay Captain Jimmy Tade, and some seniors and community members of Suluma.**Roger Sacyaten with reports from Febie Shane Polonio
