A war museum will soon be built at Kapangan, Benguet to be run by its local government.
The museum will exhibit the mementos and vestiges of the Cordilleran Veteran soldiers of World War II (WWII) in honor of their great sacrifices. Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin said that many of them are heroes for they sacrificed their lives.
According to mayor Fermin there are still memorabilia around left by these heroes.
He also said that the provincial government helped a lot by giving materials for the building of the museum.
We have already sent out notices calling on the people of Kapangan that we are accepting donations or compliments for the museum and we are happy for having received some good responses, he added.
In addition, Assistant Secretary Denton Kelly said that this museum will be the first to showcase the vestiges of the 66TH Infantry of Northern Luzon in the past war.
The municipality of Kapangan is expecting that the provincial and national governments will give more help to make the war museum successful which is a noble project.**Virtue Marungoy, UB Intern
