This is Part 2 of the discussion on the laws of the universe. The first part was discussed in the January 13 issue. These laws govern the universe so that there is order and harmony and beauty. If you look at nature- just even the sunrise and sunset, the plant, yourself, you will marvel at how beautiful creation is. It’s beautiful because there is harmony and pattern. In that issue, we discussed three of eight laws. These are the 1) the law of the harvest, the law of gestation and the law of cause and effect. The other five laws are as follows:
4. The Law of Vibration and Attraction says everything in the universe vibrates and nothing rests. We live in an ocean of motion. Vibrations of the same frequency resonate with each other and so like attracts like energy. Remember the saying “Birds of the same feather flock together.” Thought is the most potent vibration because they penetrate time and space. Your thought controls the vibration that your physical body is in. So focus on good thoughts- focus on what you want. Disease means the body is not at ease. Health is a body at ease. Think poor and you will be poor – those who have transcended their poverty have dreamed of better situation and got it.
5. The law of polarity states that everything has its opposite. And these opposites are complementary. Dark- light. Hot- cold. Everything- nothing. We define life situations and conditions by their opposites. Health- disease. Up- down. Inside-outside. High-low. In traditional Chinese philosophy, this is related to the principle of yin and yang. What has a front has a back. The bigger the front, the bigger the back. The opposites are equal. So next time you see a person or a situation, think of this principle. There are two sides of a coin. Look for the good side and focus on it. Foods could be predominantly yin or predominantly yang. We’ll discuss this in more detail in the future.
6. The Law of Relativity
Everything is relative. Examples, there is day because there is night, light because there is dark. Small because there is big. Well because there is unwell. Rich because there is poor. How we see things depends on what perspective we are looking at that thing. The nature, value or quality of something depends on its relationship with another thing. What is “big” to me might be seen as “small” to you. What is “poor” to an American could be “rich” to an Igorot. And when the world says “standard”, we need to look at the reference- from what view are they looking at? For you to feel good about where you are, relate to something worse than where you are.
7. The Law of Rhythm
Everything changes. Life is a natural cycle. Life is like a wheel. Night follows day, there is high tide and low tide, sunrise-sunset, health follows disease, life regenerates itself, seasons come and go. Kingdoms come and go. Popularity comes and goes. In Igorot, we say, “kasiyana.”
8. The law of transmutation states that energy moves in and out of physical form. The German genius Albert Einstein discovered a formula that captures this concept. E=MC squared. E is energy, M is mass and C is a constant that is the speed of light in a vacuum. So careful with your thoughts because thoughts are creative energy. Focus your thinking on what you want, NOT what you don’t want and for the universe will turn your thoughts into reality. The famous Filipino lay preacher and author,Bo Sanchez, has articulated this very well in his book “How to Turn Your Thoughts Into Things.” Thoughts or dreams (as we like to call them) are like seeds planted in the universe that grow into the physical world if we nourish them. Focus on your goals and they will become a reality when the time is right.
Natural law “is the uniform and orderly method of the omnipotent God. Unlike any other form of animal life that has been created, we were given the power of choice or free will; along with this power came certain responsibilities. The capacity to choose does not involve freedom from the consequence of our choice. The laws or rules which govern every individual… are as exact as the laws which govern the material universe. You can act in accordance with these laws or you can disregard them, but you cannot in any way alter them. The law forever operates and holds you to strict accountability, and there is not the slightest allowance made for ignorance.” (Marty Keller)
So there, just like the solar system, our health, our bodies, are governed by these laws of nature. We thank our Creator for crafting these wonderful laws so that we need not crack our brains on how to take care of ourselves and how to live life best. We just have to live in harmony with others and with the environment. We just have to surrender our pride and acknowledge that the Creator knows best. Then it would be easier to abide by his laws.**
