The combined impact of tropical storm Maymay and the southwest monsoon have left ten dead, three injured and scores of others displaced.
Based on the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) issued by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) Emergency Operations Center as of 5 p.m. Aug. 14, 2026, a total of 169 incidents were recorded across the city due to the torrential rains and strong winds that hammered the city for the past several days.
A total of 45 landslide, soil erosion or rockslide incidents occurred including the deadly one at at Riverside, Guisad Surong which claimed the lives of ten relatives, injured three others and displaced 27 families.
Overall, a total of 243 families composed of 1,112 individuals in 45 of the city’s 128 barangays were affected.
According to the Disaster Response Operation Management Information and Coordinating System (DROMICS) report of the City Social Welfare and Development Office as of 5 p.m. on August 14, of the affected population, 125 families with 530 individuals were displaced and took temporary shelter at the evacuation centers while 118 families with 582 members stayed with relatives.
There are 33 families with 132 members currently remaining in evacuation centers including the remaining remaining ten families affected by the Guisad Surong incident still staying at the Baguio International Academy.
Aside from the landslides, the CDRRM Office led by Engr. Charles Bryan Carame also recorded five flooding incidents, seven eroded ripraps, two blown roofing materials, two construction hazards, two sinkholes, two damaged structures, one clogged canals, one pavement buckling and other hazards.
The weather disturbance also resulted in damage to properties, with six houses totally damaged and 41 partially damaged. A motorcycle was also reported damaged.
It also resulted to 79 incidents of fallen or leaning trees and three tree threats and another one involving crop damage.
To date, Kennon Road and Ambuklao Road remained impassable while Naguilian Road and Halsema Highway, Marcos Highway and Asin-Nangalisan Road were passable.
The city also recorded 18 electricity-related lifeline incidents and one telecommunications incident.
The CDRRM Office and the CSWD continue to coordinate response and relief operations to address all incidents.
Response and monitoring efforts continue to conducted with various city offices and national government agencies, including Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), Baguio City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force and private volunteer groups and individuals. **Aileen P.
