3 arrested in buy-bust operation, 162 pieces of lumber confiscated
In a joint buy-bust operation of the combined operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit of PS 2 BCPO and Criminal Intelligence Unit of BCPO in coordination with PDEA-CAR, a drug peddler and his two companions were arrested along Purok 1, Cresencia Village Brgy, Baguio City on the night of March 10, 2019.
Drug trader JAY ABARRA ESPOLONG, 45, a resident of Maria Pucay Road, Pinsao, Baguio City was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth Php10,000.00 to the operative who posed as poseur buyer. After his arrest, his companions identified as ESMERALDA BACANI alias JOAN BACANI, 36, a resident of Lopez Jaena, Trancoville, Baguio City and JERRY ALVIN PUCAYEN LEE, 34, a resident of Camdas, Baguio City were also arrested.
As a result, 8 heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu, 3 pieces plastic sachet with traces of shabu, Php500.00 cash money, Php19,000.00 boodle money, 2 pouch, one brown pedicure set pouch placed inside a red leather shoulder bag containing a syringe, scissors, and other drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspects.
Violation of RA 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Board of 2002 was filed by the police against the suspects in court.
On the other hand, a total of 162 pieces of sawn pine lumber in different dimensions with a total volume of 922.3 board feet and a market value of Php28,464 were found abandoned and recovered by the officers last Saturday of March 9, 2019 during their anti-Illegal logging operations.
Twenty-four (24) pieces of pine lumber with a volume of 152.00 board feet worth Php5,355.00 was recovered by personnel of Banaue Municipal Police Station at Sitio Awan-igid, Viewpoint, Banaue, Ifugao. While 138 pieces of sawn pine lumber with a total volume of 770.3 board feet worth Php23,109.00 was also recovered by combined personnel of Bauko MPS, Provincial and Regional Maneuver Force Company, Sabangan MPS and members of the CENRO-Sabangan and MENRO-LGU Bauko at Sitio Baan Balintaugan, Bauko Mountain Province.
The operating officers searched the areas of operation for the possible arrest of those responsible for the cutting of the trees that were sawn into lumber, but to no avail.
Filipino-Chinese entrepreneur graces the Women’s Day Celebration of PROCOR
In line with the International Women’s Month, Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneur, Peter L Ng graced the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony and Distinguished Visitor’s Program of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) which was highlighted by the awarding of 10 deserving female PNP personnel at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Awardees of Medalya ng Kasanayan were PCI Thrislyn Sagpa-ey, PO2 Yutanilyn Navarro, PO1 Antonna Herry, NUP Fatima De Los Reyes and NUP Josephine Mayangao. They were awarded for their invaluable service and exemplary performance in their respective duties and responsibilities in the field of administrative work.
The awardees of Medalya ng Papuri were PO3 Heidi Juliano, PO3 Corazon Humiwat, and PO1 Jenny Rose Alngag. They were awarded for their participation in the successful implementation of various service of warrants and buy-bust operations that led to the arrest of wanted persons and drug suspects in the provinces of Apayao, Ifugao and the City of Baguio.
Moreover, as a member of the Regional Maneuver Force Battalion (RMFB15), PO1 Kimberly Fakat was awarded the Medalya ng Paglaban sa Manliligalig for her endless participation in PRO-Cordillera’s relentless campaign against dissidents during the 2nd quarter of 2018. While in the field of Police Community Relations, SPO2 Juliet Lictag was awarded for her significant contribution in the conduct of various PCR activities that inspired and won the hearts and minds of the people through community interventions.
A plaque of appreciation and token were presented to the distinguished guest for gracing the occasion.
In his message, the guest of honor, Peter Ng, inspired the men and women of PROCOR through his expertise and passion for entrepreneurship and leadership and his humble thoughts, insights and experiences in managing a business or organization.
Before he ended his message, he congratulated the female awardees, and extended his sincere thanks to the men and women of PROCOR in behalf of the Filipino-Chinese business community for protecting them and maintaining peace and order.
Theft
A case of theft (sungkit) that transpired between the hours of 12:54 AM to 01:25 AM of March 8, 2019, at No. 4 Suello Village, Baguio City by still unidentified suspect/s. The victim was Rizal Baturi Endrano, 58 years old, married, electrical engineer and a resident thereat.
Allegedly, the victim came from Metro Manila and arrived at his residence at about 8:00 PM of March 7, 2019. Due to fatigue he placed his sling bag on top of the table near the window of their bedroom and then went to sleep. Then at about 9:00 AM of March 8, 2019, the victim was called by his friend Nick, and was reminded to deposit the money for a projectat Metrobank. The victim then noticed that his sling bag which contained the following items was missing:
· Project money amounting to one hundred twenty thousand pesos
· One Metrobank passbook and cash inserted amounting to eleven thousand pesos
· One OPPO F9 cellphone worth Sixteen thousand pesos (Php16, 000);
· One gold bracelet worth twenty five thousand pesos (Php 25,000.00);
· One IBM contract;
· One HEBRON builders contract;
· One 16Gb Kingston flash drive;
· One ID of the victim; and
· One ID of Josie Saingan, sister-in-law of the victim.
Investigation showed that the suspect/s opened the window of the master’s bedroom which was left unlocked, used a stick to get the bag of the victim which was placed on top of the table.
