BAGUIO CITY, May 27(PIA) – – The rollout of the national coronavirus vaccination program in Cordillera is getting much support from the Priority A2 group with 25,483 senior citizens havingsubmitted themselves for the first shot of COVID – 19 vaccines, as of the May 23 data of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center.
Per geographical area, Baguio City tops the list with 12,027 seniors already vaccinated, followed by Abra with 4,909, Mountain Province with 2,243, Apayao with 2,096, Benguet with 1,842, Kalinga with 1,257 and Ifugao with 1,136.
Aside from senior citizens, there are also 25,483 Priority A1 (Frontline Health Workers) and 15,689 Priority A3 (Adults with co-morbidities) already vaccinated with their first dose of COVID – 19 vaccines bringing the total vaccinated to 77,564, as of May 23 RVOC data.
Among the vaccinees in Cordillera, 23,750 of them including 1,506 senior citizens, already completed their two doses of COVID – 19 vaccines.
Only Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines have been allocated and deployed to the different vaccination areas in the region. Utilization of the first doses of vaccines is expected to reach 100 percent within this week. The second dose vaccination follows the Food and Drug Administration recommended 28 – 32 days interval for Sinovac and 10 – 12 weeks for AstraZeneca.
Department of Health–Cordillera Regional Director and RVOC chairperson Dr. Ruby Constantino reminds all local VOCs and vaccination implementation teams in the region on the importance of ensuring that all Priority A1 or frontline health workers in their master list, especially those in hospitals and infirmaries, are covered. She reiterates that the present COVID– 9 vaccination rollout is for priority groups A1, A2 and A3 only.
Constantino also calls for a continuing upgrading of their vaccination micro plans, as more supplies of vaccines come in, for there is need for a more aggressive and efficient vaccination activities. **JDP/CCD-PIA CAR
