Bontoc, Mountain Province – A total of 264 professionals and aspiring professionals availed of the Mobile Outreach Services conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRC-CAR), in partnership with the Bontoc Local Government Unit on July 21, 2021, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
Complying with the minimum public health standards (MPHS), the PRC team, led by Regional Director Juanita Domogen rendered their services to 239 clients for renewal, three new applicants, and 22 clients for authentication and certification.
The majority of the clients who availed of this program were professionals who were unable to renew their licenses due to the community quarantines and travel restrictions that were imposed and are still in effect.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey expressed his gratitude to the PRC for promptly responding to his request for the conduct of Mobile Outreach Services to cater to all professionals and aspiring professionals in Mountain Province.
He remarked that since the start of the pandemic last year that resulted in the imposition of various community quarantines and travel restrictions, there has been a clamor of professionals in Bontoc and nearby municipalities who were not able to renew their expired licenses for the possible conduct of Mobile Outreach Services.
The same clamor has been voiced by applicants who are in a dilemma in processing their documents for application for examinations and PRC authentication and certification.
Odsey expressed high hopes that this will be a continuing activity of the PRC in partnership with the Bontoc LGU to be conducted twice a year.
Sangguniang Bayan members Jerome Tudlong, Jr., and Alsannyster Patingan joined the mayor in extending their gratitude to the PRC for bringing their services closer to the community.
They mentioned that this activity has been of great help to the constituents, as it lessens their financial burden and time traveling to Baguio City to process their documents.
A police officer from the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) is thankful for the conduct of the Mobile Outreach Services. He mentioned that lockdowns and travel requirements hindered a lot of professionals to avail of PRC services in Baguio City. Thus, the partnership of the PRC and Bontoc LGU paved the way for a more convenient and more accessible way of ID renewal.
Meanwhile, a public school teacher from Ut-utan Elementary School joined the other clients in expressing her gratitude to the government for bringing its services closer to the community.
“The Mobile Outreach Services has helped not only us who are staying in the capital town but also the fellow professionals coming from other barangays and neighboring municipalities,” she remarked.
She added that the conduct of the program brought convenience and accessibility for professionals since the processing of certificates, renewal of IDs, and applications require time and money.
A nursing attendant from the Barlig District Hospital lauded the implementing agencies who worked together for the realization of the activity.
“This program allows people who do not have enough time due to the nature of their job to renew and process their documents. I hope this would be done yearly or more often since there is currently no PRC office in the province, “she added.
The PRC team was assisted by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), Bontoc Municipal Library, and the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan. They rendered their services until 10:00 in the evening to be able to accommodate all the clients. **Christy Che-es & Alpine L. Killa, Bontoc LGU
