BONTOC, Mtn. Province – The provincial government, through the Provincial Tourism Office, and the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the “Mapping for Provincial Tourism Brand: Validating the Heavenly Experience” last July 26, 2021 during the flag raising ceremony of the tertiary college here.
The validating team is composed of Tyronne Glenn Lawey and Annie Graal Morareng from the Provincial Tourism Office and Flemington Comicho and Mike Allidem from the MPSPC under the supervision of Dr. Annie Grail Ekid, the Vice President for the Research Development and Extension unit of the college.
During the program, a question was raised about the “Heavenly Experience” to which the governor responded in his message by citing that the province by altitude is very near heaven. The prayers and petitions can be easily heard by the Almighty.
Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. said that the province is gifted by Kabunian with many tourist attractions and potential sites that it can offer to the world. “Coming up with a tourism brand that we can be proud of will enhance the tourism industry of the province”, he emphasized.
MPSPC President Dr. Rexton Chakas supported the governor by saying that tourism in the province ought to bounce back after it has been down for more than a year.
“Pandemic may have dealt a blow to tourism in the province. But it’s time that the province should be known in tourism worldwide through the initiatives such as this”, he said
It is to be noted that the tourism brand that the province previously has is: “Mountain Province; Almost Heaven” with the same theme of the province being high in altitude and its proximity to the heavens, thus, within hearing distance of prayers and petitions.
The team will be going to the municipalities with the previous tourism brand as a working proposition as the governor asked during his message.
It is stipulated in the MOA that the provincial government will shoulder the bulk of expenses and the college will share their research expertise for the production of collaterals such as brochures and documentations, including video materials.** Roger Sacyaten
